A study done by Mintek in 2011, found that the current corrosion technology available in the country can only solve 25% of our corrosion problems!!! There is an opportunity for you, youthful person with ideas and goals.
Corrosion results in 4-5% loss of the South African GDP!!! That accounts for only the direct costs... Can South Africa afford to lose this money???
What is corrosion?
Textbook answer: Corrosion is the detoriation of a material due to its interaction with the environment. This process maybe electrochemical in nature.

As the year comes to a close, often times we introspect ourselves and reflect on the year that has passed. Have we achieved our goals? Where have we failed so that we can improve and be better?
1. We have had a successful year in that we have achieved a member base of 215 in a little over 3 months! This is great because not that many people are aware or are interested in Corrosion but I am sure 2016 will be a much better year.
2.Student night was a great success! Definitely hoping to expand it and make it bigger!

Found any corrosion problem which you solved or are trying to solve? Well AfriCORR, is the place to be for you to wow us with your knowledge! See YOu There!
I was listening to Talk 702 this morning, I learnt that South Africa is currently going through a drought! Water will be or rather is a scarce commodity at the moment! One might ask, what does that have with corrosion. Well it has everything to do with it because a lot of water is lost through corroded pipes before it reaches the consumer! What does that mean for us, corrosion engineers? Well it means, more work for us and more knowledge required in controlling this phenomenon! You, my fellow student are needed!!! Let's discuss possible solutions!
I thought this would be an interesting conversation on this platform-for we are trying to Bridge the gap between academia and the field of corrosion! What is you take on the current state of Higher Education and our future?
After seeing the student night pictures, why you wouldn't want to join CorrISO is beyond me!!!
Look at the Love and Fun that lives at CorrISA!!! The way we were all excited during the after party (the food session ;))! Look at the Final year Corrosion class of UJ doting about their lecture, sucking up for marks hahahahahahahaha!!! What a fun night.
Well done to the prize winners!
