City installs Waste Interceptors at Elsieskraal River

The City achieved one of its top priorities, to combat water pollution during the 2023/2024 financial year, by installing eight waste interceptors in rivers and waterways across the city. The interceptors were installed using cost-effective methods, to trap litter and prevent waste, protecting the ecosystem.

The Water and Sanitation, Catchment Stormwater and River Management (CSRM) Branch invested R238 000 to install waste interceptors at Princess Vlei in Southfield, the Black River in Garden Village, Elsieskraal River in Pinelands and Jakkalsvlei Canal in Athlone.

Pinelands CPF hosted a Safety workshop for community organisations and businesses. The session allowed us to work towards creating safe communities in partnership with stakeholders.

Public cautioned to be alert following confirmed dog rabies case.

Officials from various departments within the City of Cape Town and Western Cape government are working closely to monitor and respond to the matter. The public is advised to be on high alert.

The public is urged to be vigilant and cautious of any unusual changes in behaviour in animals, especially dogs.Rabies is a highly contagious viral disease that can be transmitted to humans through the bite of an infected animal or licking of broken skin.

This is another appeal to please follow the bylaw and keep dogs on leashes.
