HENNIE, JUAN FORCED OUT OF DAKAR 2024 TreasuryONE Motorsport duo retire from gruesome Dakar

Hi everyone. Unfortunately we had to retire.

The team could not get through the dunes yesterday without 4 wheel drive. Empty courter dunes are extremely soft and they did 5km's from 10am until 5pm yesterday when they finally gave up. By then they had lost 2 of the sand ladders, rolled the car once and eventually the hydrolic jacks also gave in.

This is Dakar.

HENNIE’S ONE STEP FORWARD, TWO BACK DAKAR Dakar 24 a tough nut for TreasuryONE Motorsport

𝟭𝟭 - 𝟭𝟮 𝗝𝗮𝗻: 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝟲; 𝟰𝟴 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝗰𝗵𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗼

Also a two-day stage - with a new experience. This is how this new challenge will work. The time limit is 4 pm. When the clock strikes four, the entrants will have to stop at the next of the six rest areas that punctuate the course of the special. Once they get there, the competitors will receive bare-bones camping material and just enough provisions to make it through the night in the desert, without any connection and, therefore, without any information on how their rivals are doing. Cut off from the rest of the world.

The navigation will be fiendishly difficult, with hard-to-find courses and hidden WPs that will drive many entrants round the bend. The FIA and FIM entrants will follow separate courses, so the co-drivers will have to do without the motorbikes' traces.

This stage looks deceptively easy, but two dangers are lurking beneath the surface: on the one hand, the length of the road section and the very early start, which will sap the energy of the entrants; on the other hand, the return to the sea of dunes of the Empty Quarter, where each kilometre in a special hurts twice or thrice as much. The average speed will nosedive once the field enters the realm of sand.

Yet another long, hard slog on the way to Al Hofuf. The terrain is a bit faster and easier to make up for the length of the special and the fact that it is the second half of a marathon stage. However, it is also filled with navigation puzzles.
