After the AGM on Friday, the Scouters and their families got together today to relax and enjoy some time together
Six attended four different leadership courses! One at , two at , two at , and one staffing at and 2. Congratulations to all those , we look forward to many great things from you!
14th DELP Pfadfinder Stamm invited the Troop to have their weekly meeting with them, and it was a blast!
During the first 30 minutes, some of the Scouts played a (not proper, but still fun) game of volleyball, while the others played soccer. Afterwards, some of them went to check out the (controlled) veld fire that was nearby, and soon, everyone was in the hall and playing a game of their choice. Some played Scrabble, some played Werewolf, and some played Pictionary
Thank you again 14th DELP Pfadfinder Stamm for having us! We hope you enjoyed it just as much as we did!
FIELD DAY - by the Patrol Leader of Rhinos:
From the 9 to 11 August, 5th took part in Field Day which is one of the big district camps in our annual calendar. It was loads of fun and was a great first camp form many of our new scouts. Field Day is made up of many different competitions happening at the same time and we won 4 events, namely Senior Shooting, Cooking, Akela Challenge and Middle Orienteering. Overall we came 4th, well done to 10th Arcadia Scout Group who won this year.
Festive Saturday scenes of , starting with breakfast inspection. Pioneering projects for Scouts and Scouters. The "Red Nose" for the Cubs. Tug of war, volleyball and sharpshooting. Working together and making friends. Gauteng Scouts
highlights from Friday: "going to the carnival", setting up camp, building a turnstile campsite gateway, being impressed with the Scouter pioneering skills, playing volleyball and having tug-of-war. Glad to be sharing the weekend with 7th Mamelodi's Scouts.
Making fires, toasting sandwiches, solar heating water for hot chocolate... The Cubs had red hot meeting today!
The Cubs joined hundreds of others from across Gauteng at , this year at The Johannesburg Zoo, where they participated in dozens of fun bases, in addition to seeing the many fascinating animals housed at the zoo. A great (if tiring!) day. Gauteng Scouts
On Saturday last week, the Cubs (and Meerkats!) from 5th and 35th Pretoria Sea Scouts came together for Mandela Day. They first sang songs to the elderly folks, and afterwards some of them learned to crochet while others played board games. The Cubs also gave coloured bookmarks as gifts. Overall a very sweet and successful ! Scouts South Africa
Last Sunday, a Leopards patrol member organised a Discoverer Hike from our hall, all the way to 35th Pretoria Sea Scouts and back. A big thanks to the 12 Scouts (from 4 Troops) who made the hike a success.
What a social start to the term! Yesterday we had 4 recruits and visitors from 5 other troops, including a surprise visit from the old troop member who has been part of 3rd Leitrim Carrick-on-Shannon Scout Group in Ireland for the last 6 months, as well as our long-time friend from 1st Abu Dhabi Scouts. There was a going-up ceremony for the Cub who is soon to be a Scout. And the Cubs practised their songs for Mandela Day, and last week trained their senses while learning about nutrition.

The Troop came together for a at the end of June, and they had a blast! Two of the seniors did a complete survival camp by themselves, while the rest learnt basic skills. , looking forward to the next one!
For in February, we visited our neighbouring wetland for a wonderful event organised by the Friends of Colbyn Valley. So interesting: bird ringing, , erosion, and wildlife! Thanks for teaching us about this valuable ecosystem 🥰 and good luck with your AGM this weekend!
