Some of the TuksVDG students who graduated last week. Congratulations everyone!
A team from TuksVDG is currently working on a project with the Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory (CRREL) in Hanover, New Hampshire USA. In this project we investigate the possibility of measuring the deformation of a tyre driven over snow covered terrain. Digital Image Correlation (DIC) is used to measure the terrain before, during and after the tyre. Static test in the snow show promising results and initial dynamic tests are looking good. Final test preparation will be concluded this week and next week will consist of the first set of test runs. With temperatures well below freezing not just the instrumentation will be put to the test. Very exciting as this has not been done on snow before. Watch this space….
