Property Practitioner Training Event

We welcomed Spring with an insightful and knowledgeable Property Practitioner training session.

The theme for this month’s training revolved around Section Titles and Hercules van der Walt from North West Property Management discussed the roles & responsibilities of Property Practitioners in relation to Managing Agents. Our director and Conveyancing specialist, Leonora Swart, further elaborated on the legal understanding of Sectional Title Schemes & the regulations on unauthorised additions to units.

We had a variety of services represented to assist Property Practitioners in their day-to-day requirements and to make things easier for them. Great thanks to Spark Rite Electrical, Currency Assist, Green Door Home Loans and Gadmo Cleaning Services for being part of this initiative.

Property Practitioner Training Event

The Burden Swart & Botha Attorneys’ training for Property Practitioners has again been an inspiring and wonderfully informative event.

In estates where the deceased has left behind a valid Will, the winding up process can be simplified as an executor would have been identified, and the distribution of the estate assets is outlined in the Will. In cases where there is no valid Will, delays can be caused by disagreements between family members.

Ensure that you have a valid Will that covers all your assets and is clear on how your assets are to be distributed. This is why it is vital to regularly review your Will and update such to ensure that it covers and aligns with your views on the division of your assets. Administration of Estates: Reporting the Estate

Within the initial steps in the process, and once the main file was opened and the first interview concluded, the administrator’s first official step in the administration process is reporting the estate to the Master of the High Court. The administrator will need to hand the following documents to the master:

• Death notice
• Inventory
• Original will
• Deceased’s ID (original/certified)
• Acceptance of trust as executor
• Death certificate (original/certified)
• Marriage certificate (original/certified)
• Next of kin affidavit (J192)
• Nominations for appointment of executor, if applicable
• Security (J262), if applicable
• Person applying to be executor’s ID (certified)
