FIDE Celebrates Centenary with FIDE100 Awards 🎖️

♟️ The International Chess Federation proudly announces a series of awards to honour those who have made exceptional contributions to the world of chess in the past 100 years!

🌟 The awards are given in 19 categories. Each category has a specified nomination and voting criteria.
👏 The winners of the FIDE 100 Awards will be announced during the 45th FIDE Chess Olympiad in Budapest in September 2024.

A special Day for 9 year old Uzayr Suleiman. Uzayr has been diagnosed with kidney failure. He loves games and his dream was to receive an Xbox as well as a chess lesson with Clyde Wolpe, Director of goforchess Academy. In addition to an exciting morning of chess , Uzayr received an Xbox and a copy of Clyde's book, 'The Power of Chess'. WORLD SPORTS BETTING also came to the party with a fabulous donation of R3550, raised from the auction in a recent backgammon tournament that they sponsored

Register now for the UCC Mind Over Board tournament taking place from 30 August to 01 September 2024 at Albertyn Primary School, Uitenhage (Eastern Cape) hosted by the Uitenhage Chess Club. 🇿🇦♟

Format: 5 round swiss - 90/90 + 30 seconds (FIDE rated)
Prize fund of R 22,250 with a R10,000 first prize!!
Entry fees: R200 (A section), R130 (B section, born after 2010)
