Sensory Integration (SI)?
Sensory integration, is the way that our brain receives information from the outside world, organizes it, and responds to it. It is the foundation of development.

Our brain constantly need to process information around us, to help us engage and interact with the world. When a child has a difficult time processing this information, it can impact the way that they respond to, or how they participate in activities in their daily life.

OT can help the child’s ability to process this sensory information to be able to engage and participate in a more appropriate and functional way.

We have 8 sensory systems, which include: Auditory, oral, visual, tactile, olfactory, as well as vestibular, proprioception, and interception senses (these 3 we don't 'see').

Proprioception and vestibular can be a little confusing, as they both refer specifically to body movement. But the important thing to remember is that proprioceptive information is received through input to our muscles and joints all over our body… while vestibular input is received through our ears, and responds to change in your head position.
