All of us at Glenelly share a mutual interest in delving deeper into wines from interesting regions of the world, and in pairing the wines with food that not only compliments but emphasises their nuances of flavour, fragrance and texture. This sparked the idea of inviting our friend and inspirational oenophile Alex Dale, to co-host an event at The Vine Bistro and share his enthusiasm and knowledge of Beaujolais wines with us.

From the charming, refreshing and fruity, to the more complex, fuller-bodied and intriguing, the Beaujolais region of France produces wines worth exploring.

Taste and indulge in several carefully sourced bottles paired with a menu of traditional French dishes prepared by chef Christophe Dehosse and our team.

A note from May:

I am thrilled to share with you that My Journey with Wine, has now been released in English. This book has been a labour of love, filled with stories of my life from wine estates of the Médoc to the Cape vineyards of South Africa and all the twists and turns along the way.

With Shiraz Day approaching at the end of the month, we’re dedicating July to exploring the wonders of Shiraz—though we prefer to call it Syrah as a nod to our French heritage. This exceptional varietal has a special place in our hearts and vineyards.

When May De Lencquesaing acquired Glenelly in 2003, she dreamed of planting the classic Bordeaux varieties but wanted to add something unique. Growing up in Bordeaux, May’s grandfather often tasked her with selecting wines for family meals and challenging her to choose wine from outside the Bordeaux region. This sparked her passion for Syrah from the Rhône Valley.

Inspired by these cherished memories, May and her team decided to introduce Syrah alongside Bordeaux varieties at Glenelly. Our Syrah shines in our Glass Collection Syrah, the Rosé de May, and our Estate Reserve blend.
