Some fun in the sun!

Filling barrels with that incredible backdrop really is something else 😮‍💨🔥

Jerome and Kyle hard at work filling barrels with juice which will be bottled after spending a specified amount of time in vessel.

It’s important to put wine into oak barrels for a number of different reasons. Oak adds flavor compounds, allows the slow ingress of oxygen (which makes wine taste smoother and less astringent), it also allows for better integration of fruit, spice, tannin and acidity 🍇

With the production of wine at Neethlingshof, there are no shortcuts when chasing quality and consistency!

We’ve received some seriously amazing news 📣

Decanter have revealed that a few of our wines have done exceptionally well at their Decanter Awards competition!

The Owl Post Pinotage excelled with a seriously impressive 94 points 🔥

In addition to this, the Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 and Neethlingshof Brut NV both scored 90 points.

Congratulations to the winemaking, cellar and vineyard teams! You can be proud of this accomplishment 🏆🤝

Yesterday we had an amazing time with clients, sharing information, conversation, and introducing them to our newest vintages 🍷

We hosted a trade event in the barrel cellar, amongst our maturing wines. It’s such a beautifully special setting, and it was amazing to share this space with those who appreciate our brand.

Is there a better wine to slowly warm you into the cooler seasons? We seriously doubt it!

Our Merlot showcases flavours and aromas of black plum, mulberry and tomato leaf, with toasted coconut and traces of charred wood.

The botrytised Riesling grapes are looking in fantastic condition to soon bring you a new vintage of our highly regarded dessert wine.

We’ve got the perfect conditions for Noble Rot to occur - misty humid mornings followed by dry sunny afternoons.

The fungus punctures the skin of the grapes, reducing the water content and increasing the concentration of sugar. The fungus also imparts it’s own unique flavour to the final wine, such as honeysuckle, dried apricot, honey, beeswax, caramel, or even subtle ginger notes.

Maria is so incredibly special because there is always a superior balance between sugar, acid, fruit, and alcohol. This “little” wine oozes in sophistication, and boasts layers of never ending complexity 💫

As harvest slowly comes to a conclusion, the hard work continues!

All hands are on deck making sure all procedures are meticulously carried out to bring you pristine, world class wines from the class of 2024 🍇🍷

Mika and her team are busy with a drain and return. Somewhat similar to rack and return, where the juice is taken from the bottom of the tank and then sprayed over the cap (berries which form at the top of the tank due to increase in carbon dioxide through fermentation). The process aids with temperature regulation, colour extraction, as well as colour stabilisation.

During the process, some berries will naturally travel with the juice, which will then be returned to the vessel.

Winemaking is a fascinating thing, don’t you think?! 💫

Have you tried the latest vintage of the Six Flowers? 💐

2023 was recently released and showcases everything we’ve come to love about white blends. It’s fragrant, complex, flavoursome, boasts amazing concentration of fruit, and has a long and rewarding finish!

The wine comprises of 6 cultivars, giving way to a magnitude of flavour and intrigue: Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Gewürztraminer and Riesling 💫

Beyoncé from the tasting room says that if you haven’t yet tasted this wine, you need to wake up, and smell the Six Flowers 😉

Like clockwork, Karel die kantoor kat was waiting to welcome everyone back to work on a cool, and overcast Monday morning ☁️🐈

He said there is a high chance of rain today, so he’s recommend getting the grapes in pronto…but after he gets his food, of course!

Karel puts a smile on our faces, whether he knows it or not, always bringing a sense of positivity to the work place - which we absolutely appreciate.

Sampling the Cabernet Sauvignon block which forms a crucial component in the Caracal, our Bordeaux style, flagship red wine 🍇

It’s absolutely incredible tasting these berries. Straight from the vine you can taste their boldness. They are pure, powerful, and exhibit the tannin and flavour concentration synonymous with premium Cabernet Sauvignon.

The thick skin gives these bunches a larger skin to juice ratio which will add to the wines structure, prestige and future longevity 💫

Start clearing space in your cellars, because 2024 is going to be a showstopper!
