ACC WARNED AGAINST WASTING THE COURT’S TIME

Lusaka Magistrate Silvia Munyinya has warned the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) against wasting the court’s time by failure to avail witnesses.

This is in a matter in which former Home Affairs Minister Stephen Kampyongo and his wife, Wanziya are accused of possessing properties worth over K29 million suspected to be proceeds of crime.

When the matter came up for commencement of trial, the state made an application for an adjournment, claiming that their witnesses are out of town.

But the application angered Magistrate Munyinya who says the state was given enough time to secure witnesses for trial to commence.

The Magistrate has since advised the investigative wing to withdraw the charges against the accused if they are not ready to proceed to trial.

GOVERNMENT IS A LETDOWN ON FISP – CHIEF MPEZENI

Paramount Chief Mpezeni of the Ngoni People in Eastern Province says government has terribly failed farmers on the Farmer Input Support Program (FISP).

The traditional leader has urged President Hakainde Hichilema to seek urgent avenues that will revive the struggling program because if not addressed it will lead to unstable national food security next year.

Chief Mpezeni has since advised the head of state to take control of the entire process because the program is headed for mass failures that will have dire consequences.

The Paramount Chief’s comments come amid complaints by farmers over the prolonged inconsistencies that have hampered efficient distribution of inputs by the Ministry of Agriculture.

Meanwhile, Minister of Agriculture Reuben Mtolo Phiri has told Parliament today that government has set November month end as a time frame to complete FISP.

Mr. Phiri says 57 percent of the inputs are already within the country while 43 percent are yet to arrive.

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY IN ADVANCE 🙏🙏

Today we are in a peaceful nation because of the great greatest people who were there, some died then may their souls continue resting in peace, some we are still seeing them, may the Lord add years on them we hear more stories about what happened during that day of 1964, 24 the October.

We had our late 5 presidents who were there more especially Dr Kenneth Kaunda, may her soul continue resting in peace, we had Harry Mwanga Nkumbula, Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe and many other. Amongst those we had people like my grandfathers were there, may her souls continue resting in peace, also my grandmothers they were also there....

My grandmom told me a simpler story she summarized it "insh*ta ya twalepoka ubuntungwa,abasungu nga baisa balefwaya abaume, so ine ubushiku bumo ilyo baishile ba Sokulu nabalalike panshi ya busanshi, nabikapo ne milando,ne fyani elyo nasendama pa mulu, mpaka bafilwa ukubamona, kabili Bambi balepapa na ba Pushi basha abana, ifwe twalebomfya ifimuti na mabwe , abasungu imfuti....mwana wesu twaliculile"

I had a great opportunity to interact with my own Grandmom which was great.

Those freedom fighters should be celebrated, because the legacy will still continue counting...

And happy birthdays to those who born on 24th October,1964, those who have died may her soul continue resting in peace.

As I’ve always done throughout my career, I try to live and play respectfully towards my colleagues, my adversaries and my coaches. That hasn’t changed. I haven’t changed. I’m the same person and the same professional that I’ve been for the last 20 years playing elite football, and respect has always played a very important role in my decision making process.

I started very young, the older and most experienced players examples were always very important to me. Therefore, later on, I’ve always tried to set the example myself for the youngsters that grew in all the teams that I’ve represented. Unfortunately that’s not always possible and sometimes the heat of the moment get’s the best of us.

Right now, I just feel that I have to keep working hard in Carrington, support my teammates and be ready for everything in any given game. Giving in to the pressure is not an option. It never was. This is Manchester United, and united we must stand. Soon we’ll be together again. 💪🏽🙏🏽
