SOME HIGHLIGHTS FROM 2024 BUDGET PRESENTATION

Constituency Development Fund (CDF) increased by K4.8 billion. This means each Constituency will receive K30.6 million in 2024.

-4,200 teachers to be employed in 2024 adding to 4, 500 hired this year.

- New Dawn has completed 69 abandoned schools while 46 are under construction.

-Government will construct industrial yards in Kitwe, Lusaka and Ndola before the end of the year.

-Government will in 2024 construct airports in Kasaba bay, Chinsali and Choma.

-Katete - Chanida Road concession to link Zambia to Mozambique will soon be signed.

-Government will construct cancer hospitals in Ndola and Livingstone to decongest Lusaka cancer hospital.

-Additional 4000 health workers to be employed adding to 3000 hired this year.

-New Dawn has cleared all council workers (LASF ) left unpaid by previous government from 2017 to 2021 while the waiting period has been reduced to one year..

-Social Cash transfer beneficiaries have increased from 241,000 (2022) to 242,000 this year.

-Aside producing Fertiliser locally, increasing maize price , FRA will release stocks of maize direct to communities.

-Government to spend K398m to completed abandoned schools.

-CEEC GETS K392 million for SME development.

-K1.9bn allocated to schools as grants in line with free education policy.

-PAYE exempt threshold increases to K5100

The following factors will help you understand - why you should apply earlier:

A. *Scholarships* - You will have an opportunity to get a 100% scholarship on tuition fee for the whole programme until completion at our College.Some institutions require that you accept their conditional offer of admission before you apply for a scholarship. There are a limited number of scholarships for students; hence if you manage to get your scholarship application well ahead of time and you meet all the eligibility requirements; you stand a good chance of securing a scholarship.

*A glowing Letter of Recommendation* - You can get your Letter of Recommendation in advance from your referee. Helps when the referee is not flooded with a 100 other requests like yours.

*Last-minute worries* - No, last-minute nail-biting tension and fear of knowing if your admission application reached on time within the deadline or got the acceptance letter.

*Planning expenses* - If your application gets approved and you get a confirmation from the institution well ahead of time; you can plan your expenses accordingly.

*Choice of course* - There are instances when an applicant is not offered the exact course, which the applicant aspires to study and is offered some other course in lieu due to late submission; for example an applicant
