It has been a while without posting then l decided to look into "Maleness in religious circles". The contemporary world has created a paradox in which the man is trapped in a dilemma between obligatory cultural expectations and global legal frameworks which are endorsed in the name of ‘women empowerment discourses’. The gendering dichotomies between cultural
obligations and legislative stipulations are that, the earlier identifies a status by responsibilities while the latter is recognised by biological setup

Where Cultures Clash , Norms Defining
_©Adv Rodney Kudakwashe Mutombo_
In a world of voices intertwining,
Where cultures clash and norms defining,
Women's wings were clipped, their voices silenced,
As politics thrived with patriarchal reliance.
But hear me now, in a plea for change,
For women's rights to rearrange,
Let us break the chains of cultural sway,
And empower women to lead the way.
In English and Ndebele, let our words resound,
With thoughts of equality, profound,
Culture, once a prison, now an ally,
To support women's dreams to reach the sky.
Njengezinyanga ezivela,
Ngezindlela ezithuthuzela,
Nginqokwenza induku endlini,
Ukuze ndifuze umlilo ebizayo ezweni.
As culture thrives, let it embrace,
The strength and wisdom that women trace,
For in the political realm, their presence matters,
Their perspectives are vital, their voices shatter.
Let us forge a world that truly understands,
The importance of women leading in those lands,
For when women participate, society thrives,
With diverse ideas and solutions, it survives.
Women's empowerment, a beacon of hope,
Breaking the barriers society has spoke,
Let us transform the political sphere,
To ensure women's voices are always near.
So let us strive, let us unite,
In the pursuit of justice, equal rights,
Culture and patriarchy, we shall dismantle,
To create a future where all women can handle.
In English and Ndebele, let our call be heard,
For women's political participation, the world should be stirred,
With their potential unleashed, our society will soar,
To a future where equality reigns evermore.
Ngomlando nesiko sisekelwa ikumis'omgwaqo,
Sikhuthaz’abantwana bethu okubomvu okungasekho,
Ukufanele imikhumbikazi iyachitheka,
Ukuncedisisa abokant’emphakameni imi ngebala.

Yes it's not all young men that are a bunch of uncouth ignoramuses when it comes to individual personal hygiene. But from my own personal experience and observing the lives of young men heading out on their own for the first time, I do know that keeping up with regular hygiene practices falls to the wayside for many young gents. With the stress of school and work, masculinity nonsense, along with the lack of structure they once had at home, it’s easy to let yourself go.
So early hours of today l was on air with Miss V Candy as we were discussing best practices of personal hygiene etiquette young men can adopt. It was also a moment of busting myths around young men personal hygiene.
Lawson Muchiriri was also part of the conversation and this was my key take away from him "if not shaving my armpits make my masculinity to be validated then l don't need to be associated with masculinity" lol.
This was made possible by Saywhat

We do need more gender equality champions in civic life. We do need women to run for office, to be in political office. We need a feminist to be at the table when decisions are being made so that the right decisions will be made, the decision that will enhance meaningful women political participation, decisions that will make sure that women's rights are uphold and protected at any cost.

Up to when are we going to fold our hands and pretend like nothing is happening at Johane Marange apostolic church. With a very heavy heart , am a writing this_ a 14-YEAR-OLD girl from the Johane Marange apostolic church died on Tuesday a few days after giving birth at home in Buhera. This is not the first case of this sort, we had Anna Machaya case and nothing really was done about it. Many cases are going unreported and unattended to, this have been normalized within the Johane Marange church , and growing up l think churches were supposed to be safe havens but with this l think we need to rethink of churches are still the same safe havens.
Our government should treat these child abuse acts with urgency. This is now a pandemic and the action should be now.

Child marriage and childhood pregnancy remains widespread in Zimbabwe,This increases the risk of domestic violence, psychological and physical violence, including sexual violence, and HIV-infections.
It is so sad how this ill practice have been normalized , it's even more heart wrecking how even the perpetrators are easily "getting away with murder". At first we would say it's due to COVID 19 that children are locked in with their perpetrators but even beyond the intense COVID 19 period , 9 year olds are being impregnated and it only get to be a social media headline sadly no tracks of any legal investigation or perpetrators being arrested.Child marriages, child abuse and childhood pregnancies are treated as nothing (not even a serious human right infringement) but as just a mere national statistics. 9 year olds dreams being buttered ,being shuttered and nothing is being done yet as a country we are a signatory to many regional and international treaties that are supposed to be a binding to the rights of a girl child.
Poverty, culture and tradition are key players yes but does that mean that our government can not criminalize and hold to account perpetrators accordingly???. The patriarchal nonsense nature of the Zimbabwean society is also at the centre of this crisis but does this mean that we can not have a law that can surpass these socio-cultural barriers??
6 years later after the January 2016, the Constitutional Court of Zimbabwe ruled that noone under the ages of 18 to be married, barely months after the controversial marriage bill that also buttresses the need to protect children under 18 not to be married ,child marriages, child abuses and early childhood pregnancies are still happening. Is this because our legal system just takes pride in developing well crafted policies and laws then fail to actualize them or we really as a country do not value "The Girl Child'", her contribution even to the national economic development???.
Perhaps, consent should be criminalised. Perhaps parents that marry off underage girls should be prosecute and locked up in jail, perhaps churches that promote that should be banned and closed , perhaps culture that condone such should be abolished.
It's time that Zimbabwe and other relevant stakeholders start to ;-
1) invest in developing, elaborating, and implementing national strategies and action plans, including putting in place mechanisms and institutions for the enforcement, monitoring and reporting, along with financial and human resources, all aimed at ending child marriage;
2) Ratify, domesticate, harmonize, apply, and monitor international and regional instruments aimed at improving the welfare of children and women rights’
3)Ensure that ending child marriage remains high on the political agenda at national level
4)Encourage civil society initiatives and partnerships that promote the wellbeing and protection of children by investing in programmes aimed at empowering communities and girls at risk of child marriage
5) Enact stiffer penalties now on perpetrators and those that promote child abuse
6) Encourage to end child marriages as it is one of the core human development issues of the post 2015 Development agenda as well as the African Union Agenda 2063 to be monitored with a specific indicator in the Agenda 2063 monitoring mechanisms

Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world
I am so passionate about women's human rights and l identify as a feminist. For me ,feminism isn’t a cloak that I put on in the morning and take off at certain times. It’s who I am. I look at the world through eyes that are very alert to gender injustice, and I always will.
Oflate l have discovered that the most precious thing I have to give is my time. For the past 3months have been up and down going to different parts of the country but mostly rural and farming areas. I would identify one or two kids very brilliant in school, very passionate about learning but sadly no stationary to use or school fees to pay for the to be in school this is due to different reasons including one being orphaned or coming from a less advantaged family. I just thought to myself that l can be able to assist a few with whatever l can hence starting "Sahwira Soko Foundation" naming the initiative after my totem.
A common misconception is that charity is only for the rich and you can’t be charitable if you’re barely getting by. But as has been proven by the likes of Mother Teresa, charity is not measured by how much you give. Rather, it is the act of giving and the intent of the giver that truly matters. I believe anyone can give a hand to those in need ,and if you can please do.
