A short interview with Njabulo Nyathi, Senior Legal Associate at GLG.
1. What was the moment that made you decide to be a lawyer?
I suppose I have always been fascinated by the courts and practice of law. I would frequent the court from a very young age because one of my mother’s sisters worked there in the typing pool, it didn’t help that the court house was just a stones throw away from the public library. The rest is history.
2. Seems like destiny! What is your favourite part of being a lawyer now?
The constant learning takes it for me, the law is quite intricate and constantly evolving . You won’t always be right nor have the sharpened skill in handling some complex or novel matters however it is those very same elements that forge brilliant legal minds. The years I’ve spent in the quiz, debate and public speaking together with moot spaces have definitely played a impactful role in my journey.

A Short Interview with Taka Rashid Gambe, Partner at GLG.
1. What was the moment that made you decide to be a lawyer?
Just so you know the hit show Suits had nothing to do with it (chuckles). I was one of the Presidents of my debate clubs and loved the adversarial nature of arguing a position using facts and respectful words and reaching a desired outcome based completely on my research and presentation. I guess that was what I saw law being a continuation of.
2. I loved that show actually! What is your favorite part of being a lawyer?
I love how single words can make or break agreements as each contract tells a story and that learning that skill well has exposed me to creating so many structures for clients locally and all over the world. They seem happy with the work so far at least (chuckles).
3. That sounds like a lot of pressure! What is a fun fact about you?
I welcome it a lot. A fun fact about me is that I have 2 videos in the gym that went viral amassing over 2 million views.

A Short Interview with Charlene Jackson, Legal Associate at GLG.
1. Why did you choose to become a Lawyer?
For me, it was not one moment in time. I am a planner by nature, and it was something I decided at age 15. Plus if I’m being honest, it was a plus that Maths was not a requirement to pursue law.
2. Since becoming one, what has become your favourite part of being a Lawyer?
My favourite part of being a lawyer is fact that the learning never stops no matter how good a lawyer you become. I love learning useful information and skilfully using it to fight for Justice or to achieve a certain goal - being a lawyer has a lot of that.
