This trimester, our students Jana Azees, Sanjana Sundeep and Salman Ali have been working on implementing an innovative OpenAI algorithm to detect car damage at multiple levels for Nejoum Al Jazeera, a vehicle trading and logistics company based in the UAE. A special thank you to our welcome and keynote speakers, Dr Georgina Avard and Veronica Gardiner, for their insights on student engagement and success in higher education and for their time and inspiring words.

Thank you to all the presenters for sharing their research, practices, and insights on student engagement, support and success in Higher Education. Your engaging presentations on Numeracy, AI and academic integrity, VR for student engagement in biosciences, Higher Education reputational risk, teaching and curriculum approaches and supporting students with disabilities in Higher Education were very well received by our audience.

We hope everyone is safe and dry in the current weather. Please be reminded that no classes are scheduled for this week. The campus will be open tomorrow May 3rd to students who wish to use the facilities. If you have any questions, kindly get in touch with us at [email protected].

Due to the unprecedented nature of the storms that have hit the UAE and the ongoing road closures and power outages, and in the interests of staff and student safety, Murdoch University Dubai campus will remain closed, most likely until Monday 22nd April.

We are following the advice of KHDA and other local authorities, including TECOM, as well as our management team to assess the situation as it unfolds and hopefully improves soon.

Unfortunately, this means all exams will be postponed until next week. We will continue to work with the examinations team in Perth to find a suitable outcome for all students.

We understand that this decision causes inconvenience to students who were expecting to undertake exams this week, however given the unexpected nature of the recent storms it has been very difficult to predict the full extent of the impact and the time it will take for transport and other services to return to normal.

We appreciate your understanding in this matter.
