Exciting news! Geovibe CJSC recently launched GIS4Schools - a geospatial program aimed at providing STEM-driven education to students and teachers. Through a collaboration with Quantum College, students gained practical experience and knowledge required in any scientific research lifecycle. By identifying suitable locations for viticulture in the Aragatsotn region, students developed problem-solving skills and learned to communicate and take action based on their findings. This partnership exemplifies the positive impact that can arise from collaborations between industry leaders and educational institutions, promoting the growth of the geospatial industry and empowering the next generation of STEM professionals.

Exciting news! Our team has successfully completed the Natural Risk Hazard Index project (NHRI) for emergency services in three regions of Armenia. Initiated by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the project aimed to support emergency services in predicting, assessing, and preparing for possible natural disasters and adapting to climate change. Our comprehensive tool integrates geospatial data analysis, risk assessment, and disaster management, providing a unified information database for emergency responders. Upon completion of the project, three separate training sessions were held for the Emergency Services Staff, covering the use of NHRI, the visualization of new data, and the creation of interactive maps using ArcGIS Pro and integrated Applications (Survey123, StoryMap and etc.), as well as hydrological and hydraulic analysis using ArcGIS Pro. The emergency responders have recognized the potential and benefits of using NHRI to enhance their effectiveness, responsiveness, and delivery of new capabilities and services to stakeholders.

Exciting news! Geovibe has signed an MOU with the Scientific Centre of Zoology and Hydroecology of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia. This partnership brings together Geovibe's advanced technology in geophysical surveying, data analysis, and visualization with the Scientific Centre's expertise in zoology, hydro-ecology and environmental protection.
The collaboration will focus on developing innovative solutions for zoology and hydroecology management and monitoring, as well as new surveying and exploration techniques. These solutions will have a significant impact on the environmental protection efforts in Armenia, and can help ensure the sustainability of natural habitats and the preservation of endangered species in the country.
The partnership also aims to improve the accuracy and reliability of data analysis and visualization by developing new scientific methodologies. By combining the scientific expertise of the Scientific Centre of Zoology and Hydroecology with Geovibe's data analysis and visualization capabilities, the two organizations can develop more efficient and effective methodologies that are sustainable in the long run.

On November 15, 2022, in Yerevan, Armenia, the International Geographical Information Systems (GIS) Day was celebrated under the theme "GIS for the Development of the Republic of Armenia."

The event was organized by GEOVIBE in coordination with AGBU.

The purpose of the event was to show how GIS is used for development and monitoring in agriculture, introduction of the latest technologies in the field of education, providing opportunities for in-depth analysis in environmental protection, urban planning and healthcare in the Republic of Armenia.

Contributors to this event included the Avet Poghosyan Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry, Gevorg Azgaldyan and Amalya Misakyan from Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center SNCO, Eric Böttcher from “Deutsche Sparkassenstiftung”, Arthur Avagyan from AGBU Armenian Virtual College and the keynote speaker was Dr.Rouben Galichian who talked about historic maps of Armenia, which dated back even to the first existing map in the world.

GIS Day was first celebrated in 1999 and since then it is held every year to celebrate the technology of geographic information systems (GIS), and to highlight the importance of spatial thinking.

What is GIS?

A geographic information system (GIS) is a computer-generated system which gathers, stores, checks and displays multilayer data related to various objects located on the ground. GIS can display different kinds of data on one map, such as streets, constructions, green areas, etc. providing the analysis of patterns and interconnections. Its practical use can be applicable in numerous spheres to allow corporations, institutions and companies to make more efficient decisions.
