🎉 Hey Weirdos! Here's to a 2024 filled with success and adventure! 🥂 We've been quieter lately, taking time to really settle into the crazy life of Jakarta. 🌆✨

This city grabbed our attention immediately with its lively streets, amazing Indonesian food, the kindest people, and the exciting mix that a big Asian city brings. What's here not to like? 🤷‍♀️

As we enjoy Jakarta's lively lanes, we're also taking a moment to look back at the past year and chart our course for 2024. Plus, we've got a little holiday planned in Thailand soon!

We are excited and looking forward to what the new year will bring! We are curious, what adventures are you planning for 2024? 🌍👇

🏔️❄️ We spend a lovely weekend in Gozd Martuljek, Kranjska Gora, and Tamar Valley in Slovenia. Perfect place for a weekend trip with family and a celebration of a special upcoming birthday ❤️

We ended our Balkan adventure in Kacarevo 🏡✨. Just 30 minutes from Belgrade, in a peaceful village where we got a perfect calm retreat for the finale. The people, the laid-back atmosphere, and the local charm - it was something that we needed. ❤️

We even found a Brandy production in the village, where we did a little shopping to get a local Sljiva.

We started on November 8th and, until December 12th, traveled from Bosnia through Montenegro to Albania, North Macedonia, and Serbia. It was a great road trip to finish the year. 🗺️🇷🇸

🌬️❄️ Our general feeling in the last couple of days: It's cold, we can't wait to go to Asia 😃 But until we do, we still have some places to visit.

A short 2-day stop in Belgrade before heading to a village nearby was lovely. It was sunny yet quite windy, so we had a brisk walk around the city and Kalemegdan Serbia is Leo's 50th country visited, so we had to celebrate with a beer in the evening.

The morning after was a bit less pleasant. Not because we would have a hangover but because we realized that our car was taken away. Apparently, we parked in a place reserved for the Ombudsman, who didn't hesitate to call the tow truck on us. Eventually, we got our car back for 100 EUR and drove away in (slight) anger to our next destination - Kacarevo.

We spent a couple of days in Skopje. Winter was getting to us, so we kept ourselves inside our cozy apartment, mostly working, and wandered around the statue convention downtown. 🗿

North Macedonia 🇲🇰 was a new country for both of us. It has a nice vibe and friendly people, another positive experience in a new city. We are especially impressed by Ohrid town.

🚗 From sunny Albania's shores to snowy Lake Ohrid. What we thought would be 3.5 hours turned into a 7-hour adventure through rain and snow storms. 🌧️❄️ But totally epic. This was the first encounter with snow since we became digital nomads in May 2021. ☃️

A nice view and a story behind this view. It was taken from the Airbnb apartment that we checked into, and to our surprise, it was different from the one we booked. Of course, it was not better, but quite worse.

After a couple of hours of waiting and messaging the owner, we finally decided to give up, ask for a refund, and book a new apartment. We are still trying to figure out what the owner's game was, but we are happy that, in the end, we found a new cozy spot, minus the nice view. 😆

Since we mostly live in Airbnb apartments worldwide, we rarely have a negative experience. We hope that it stays like this.
