Last week, some of our team attended a 2-day Mental Health First Aid course delivered by the Australian Red Cross. They learned valuable skills to support learners and colleagues who may be experiencing mental health challenges.

This training has empowered our team to recognise signs, offer initial support, and encourage individuals to seek professional help.

On June 6th, some of the ASC Training & Development team swapped the warmth and comfort of their beds to sleep on cardboard under the clouds at the Soup & Sleep - Food on the Table's annual fundraising event. Before settling down for a (not so) quiet nights sleep, the team helped prepare and cook meals for the homeless whilst being entertained by local entertainers, and hearing from people sharing their own stories about just how hard life can be for those less fortunate than us.

Every night in South Australia it is estimated there are some 7000 people experiencing homelessness and alarmingly around 15% are under the age of 12.

Over 200 people attended the evening with the majority staying for the sleep over. Currently, the event has raised over $350,000 (over $50,000 raised on the night with a live auction) which will help Food on The Table provide meals to South Australians over the next 12 months.

All fundraising efforts go directly towards feeding those who are doing it tough right now and cannot afford a fresh and healthy meal.

At just 12 years old, Jed faced a life-threatening farm accident, nearly taking away his ability to walk.

Jed's spirit is one of fighting through adversity. He took a bold step and set his sights on professional competition in the Ironman 70.3 (18-24 Age Group). This year alone, he's achieved podium finishes at the Ironman 70.3 Venice (3rd place), and last week he dominated the OTSO Challenge Salou in Spain, taking 1st place! 🥇💪

Last week, our CEO Sharon Ayris and the amazing ASC Training & Development - RTO. 2353 ladies had the privilege of attending Foodbank SA & Central Australia's 2024 Women of Influence Luncheon at the Adelaide Showgrounds.

This incredible event brought together a powerhouse panel including Senator The Honourable Penny Wong, The Honourable Emily Bourke MLC, Sandra Miller (SA Senior Australian of the Year, 2023), and Angela Falkenberg (Australian Primary Principals Association).

Each woman shared inspiring stories of resilience and strength, both in their professional and personal lives. It was a true testament to the power of female leadership.

A special shout-out to Lucy Hinton (Foodbank Ambassador) for being our fantastic MC and Sonya Feldhoff (ABC Radio Adelaide Breakfast Presenter) for facilitating a lively and engaging panel discussion.

We were particularly touched by the reminder that every dollar donated to Foodbank SA helps provide two meals for those in need.

This year our team are supporting Soup & Sleep - Food on the Table's major annual fundraising event.

Food on the Table have a simple vision: to provide food to people that are struggling to find their next meal and create a community of people to support each other.

All fundraising efforts go directly towards feeding those who are doing it tough right now and cannot afford a fresh and healthy meal.

Every night in South Australia it is estimated there are some 7000 people experiencing homelessness and alarmingly around 15% are under the age of 12. With the huge increase in the cost of living, many more individuals and families are regularly experiencing food insecurity, which is of course heightened amongst people experiencing homelessness.

Health & Safety Representative (HSR) Level 3.
Next course begins 1st May 2024.

Content includes:
* Assisting in the management of the company's Safety Management System
* Assisting in the implementation of the WHS improvement plans
* Developing and maintaining policies and procedures
* Assisting in the internal audit process of the company (this will include a mock audit undertaken in the class)

Conducted via Live Virtual Classrooms – 3 x up to 90-minute daily sessions across two days.

This course is designed for the HSR and DHSR's final year of office. Safework SA also approves the course and builds on the skills and knowledge already gained in the Level One and Level Two workshops.
