🤟✌️ 😎😎It was a perfect place to catch up with Aki san and 1 of our ex Takumi team member Shohey.  I am sure many of you do remember him..  the Tamagoyaki (Japanese Omelette) specialist in Takumi.

It was great to meet up with Aki san again since 2018, one of the best yakitori chef 🐔 in Australia 👑🇦🇺🇯🇵.  Set up few amazing and well known yakitori / izakaya in Sydney and has trainned a numbers of great yakitori chefs in Australia, before he moved back to Kansai about 6 years ago. 

Australia has lost another amazing chef followed by Kenji Ito (Kenji Restaurant & Wakenbo) who has moved back to Japan for good a year ago. 😞😞😓💔

💗 Really great to know they both are doing well in thier current life and job, at the same time, is sad to know they are no longer in the food industry due to changes of life style and family.  They both too agreed, not many people can understand the demand of this industry.. we all laughed at.. "What is 14 hours a day standing?" 😂😂😂

We still enjoyed talking about foods the whole afternoon over this amazing Omu Rice 🍅🐣.

All the best to both of you and really hope to catch up again in Kansai soon.

😇✌️Great experience to dine in with another Michelin star ⭐️ level restaurant, Gojo Genbei.  Beautiful 250 years old building converted into today restaurant.
 
Shinmachi street, where Genbei is located on, is claimmed as one of the olderst street in Japan 🇯🇵and some of the houses is the olderst houses that is still in used since 400 + years ago.

Genbei is heavily focus on local fruits and vegetables for thier dishes that served in 300+ years old Japanese laquerware.

Amazing dining experience.  Chef / Owner,  Nakatani san has intensive local vegetation knowledge and source from the local area.   🌿🌲🌵🍃🌳🍀🌸

I didnt know cedar tree young shoots can taste amazing!

So happy to make a new friend here in Gojo, Mr. Hirooka 😎😎.  Chef / owner for Oryouri Hirooka (restaurant), a Michelin star restaurant.  Arguably is the best restaurant and chef in the Yamato region.🇯🇵

💫 Very interesting dining experience, amazing foods and all ingridients used are locally grown 🍆🍎🍠.  A 12 courses omakase menu with lots of history learnt for the individual dishes.  No Mickey Mouse shows or Godzilla presentation🦖, just a simple classy dining place.

8th January,  Bodaimoto Sake Festival at Shoryakuji temple, Nara Prefecture 🇯🇵

An amazing experience to be able to attend this once a year festival. 🥳✌️

More than 500 years ago, the 1st sake was brewed here in Japan by the Shoryakuji monks ⛩️  This is the birth place of sake. 🐣

💥 Bodaimoto is the olderst methods to make sake starter, today, there are only a handful of sake breweries still using this methods due the challenging of the production.

💥💥 We have decided to have a special night at Takumi. Most of the regulars already know my parents have been in Adelaide with us for the last 2 months, and they will be here for another few more weeks, then go home. This is the longerst time i have spent together with them since i came to Australia in 1997 ✈️🐨

⌛️ Time flies, mom is 85 and dad is 88 now. But thier loves of cooking is still strong. They used to run a farm in 1960's and a restaurant in the 1970's. Yes, I grew up in a big family, 7 boys, 300 of chickens 🐥 & 100 of pigs 🐷, and a restaurant since I can remember things. 🧑‍🌾👩‍🌾🧑‍🍳👩‍🍳 🍼

At this age, they still loves to share theirs foods with friends and family ❤️. After almost 50 years since they served thier last customer, they have an opportunity to cook for someone in a restaurant again in 2023. 😇🌸

👍 I think, this will be a greatest opportunity to have Takumi as a plateform for them to cook up a feast and share with the friends in Australia 🇦🇺. This will also be a greatest memory for mom and dad, a gift from all of you.

These are the flavours i grew up with the family. Regular Takumi menu will not be available.
