Meet Anthony K***a 👋
Like many others, finding a fulfilling career path post military service proved to be challenging for Anthony.
Anthony had spent a decade in the Australian Defence Force (ADF) Royal Australian Air Force and transitioning into a civilian role left him with feelings of longing to be part of something bigger again.
After some time spent searching, Anthony found his place at DEWC Services where he currently works as Deputy Director of Science and Technology.

Commemorating the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy, France.
On 6 June 1944, 3,200 Australian airmen and Navy sailors participated in the Normandy Landings and 13 were killed in what is still known as the costliest month in the Royal Australian Air Force’s history.
Today’s anniversary was commemorated with a wreath laying ceremony at Torrens Parade Ground. We pay our respects and remember their incredible bravery of those who served. 🕊

As National Reconciliation Week concludes, we remember Reginald Jeffrey ‘Jeff’ Barnes.
Jeff was the first reported Aboriginal person in South Australia to join the RAAF in 1941. His unwavering determination helped overcome many obstacles throughout his personal and professional life and despite many attempts, landed him the final rank of leading aircraftman in 1942.
We acknowledge, recognise and pay our respects to his invaluable contributions and sacrifice.

It’s National Careers Week and who better to speak to the career opportunities on offer for Veterans than one of our own? Today we shine a spotlight on Ilona Horan who first joined Defence SA in 2016.
While many of us know Ilona Horan as Defence SA’s Corporate Services Director, this multitasking mum found her place in defence more than two decades ago.
Prior to joining Defence SA, Ilona served in the Australian Regular Army for 18 years before transferring to the Army Reserves where she remains an active Army Reservist.
Ilona found a way to incorporate her passion for Defence, helping people and advocating for the veteran community in her post-service career at Defence SA.

For Adelaide-based mother, Leah Kemp, this day holds deep meaning as she remembers her late husband, Matthew Kemp, a former Australian Army armourer. With their two young sons, Nathaniel and Oscar, Leah reflects on the importance of honouring veterans and their families.
