The day continued with a range of activities, including writing haikus by our Japanese garden, immersing ourselves in our sensory room and creating book spine poetry in the Resource Centre.
Our students had a great time getting creative and finding new ways to express themselves.

The childcare children worked closely with their Year 12 buddies to make yummy salad wraps and tasty strawberry and banana smoothies that they all ate together at a very fancy table.
There were full tummies and smiling faces all round!
Our Year 5/6 students have been practicing their knowledge of hiragana, one of the Japanese writing systems.
During their Japanese lessons, students have been working hard to prepare for their hiragana assessment task. Students enjoyed learning a rap to learn the mnemonics for each hiragana and they worked in small groups with flashcards and a variety of hands-on activities to strengthen their recognition of hiragana.

Book Week 2024
A huge thank you to all the families who helped make our Book Week Parade a spectacular event.
The theme for 2024 is ‘Reading Is Magic’ and many of our staff and students enjoyed dressing up as magical and mythical characters.
The Gym was the perfect venue for everyone to gather and join our parade to showcase the vibrant colours and costumes to make the day a huge success.
Well done to all students and families who participated in the celebrations. We look forward to more Book Week activities in Week 5.
Last Thursday, Hallett Cove School sent an enthusiastic squad to participate in Round #1 of the Year 9/10 Statewide Knock Out Futsal (5-a-side Indoor Soccer) Competition held at Seaford Recreation Centre.
Despite a slow and shaky first game and one loss to Cardijn, the boys were fantastic - in their behaviour, their brand of futsal and motivation to perform their best.
Everyone played their role superbly, especially our reserve Goalkeeper (J Byrne) who got a last-minute call up to the starting 5 due to illness of our no. 1 GK (E Pridham).
Through their hard work, their 'TEAM' focus and determination, they earned their spot in the FINALS finishing second overall to a very strong and polished Cardijn.
RESULTS:
Vs. Woodcroft - 5:1 - win
Vs. Aberfoyle - 13:0 - win
Vs. Cardijn - 4:2 - loss
Vs. Reynella East College - 5:1 - win
Vs. Seaford - 7:5 - win
Vs. Willunga - 5:0 - win
Well done to all that participated in this great day! We are looking forward to competing in the FINALS Round, held at St Clair on Monday 26 August (Week 6, Term 3).
⚓️Our Year 5's had a fantastic time last week at the SA Maritime Museum!⚓️
Our students learned about the early encounters between Aboriginal Australians and various traders and explorers, discovered what life was like on board for travellers coming to Australia in the 1840s, and even explored a Ketch. They were curious, asked insightful questions, and shared their knowledge with enthusiasm.
A big thank you to all the volunteers for helping out on the day and making this experience so memorable!
❄️The 2024 snow trip has started with an amazing few days! ❄️
Lots of sun, snow and smiles!
Snowboarders and skiers are learning lots of new skills and everyone is enjoying the challenge of lessons.

🏎⚡️The coolest kid on the block⚡🏎
Last Friday Jack was on top of the world as he pulled through the fog and up to the school in a very sleek McLaren Artura.
Jack won the once-in-a-lifetime ride to school from SAFM and was accompanied by their Black Thunder team. His class greeted him in the car park to plenty of cheers and open mouths!
The over half a million dollar car certainly turned plenty of heads and what a memory for Jack!
✂️💄Some of our Hair and Beauty students were introduced to the world of the beauty industry at TAFE SA Adelaide campus last week where they heard about the opportunities available and pathways into the industry.
They got to use their salon skills and try some new beauty ones. 💄✂️
🚀🌟Select students from Years 9 and 10 participated in an exciting tour of Lot Fourteen.
Students explored the Australian Institute of Machine Learning, the Australian Space Discovery Centre, and the Optus Cyber Security division. The two-hour visit was packed with information, and the students left with a new perspective on the wide range of career opportunities available in these cutting-edge fields.🌟🚀
This term we have introduced a Maths Problem of the Week in our high school, designed to engage and challenge students in mathematics. Students are presented with a problem in the morning notices and the first person to present the correct solution, including their reasoning, to Mrs Davis receives a prize.
Congratulations to our recent winners, Charlie Wade, Zach Kennedy and Michael Anderson, who have demonstrated their successful problem-solving abilities.
We look forward to seeing more students participate in these weekly challenges. Who will be our next maths victor? Stay tuned and keep solving!
Last week our middle school students had the opportunity to see Brainstorm Productions presenting their student wellbeing live theatre performance ‘Sticks & Stones’.
This production explores different forms of bullying and aggression and encourages respect, assertiveness and conflict resolution at school, at home and online.
The incredibly engaging show of only two energetic performers explored the influence of peers, family, social media, YouTube and Video games on attitudes and behaviours. They cleverly demonstrated the role of the flight or fight response and how this energy can be channelled inter positive pursuits.
It provided our students with practical strategies for emotional regulation, assertiveness, conflict resolution, resilience, help-seeking and breaking the cycle of violence.
We recently had our second Staff vs Students challenge for the year and this time we were testing brain power in the inaugural Cove Quiz!
Questions ranged from pop culture to general knowledge and both teams put up a good fight! We’re ashamed to say the student teams definitely had the upper edge in the pop culture round but ultimately, the staff team took home the gold! (Metaphorically of course).
It’s now 2-0 to the staff this year but there’s still plenty of time for the students bring it back before December!
