🌸 **Breaking the Silence on Lipedema** 🌸

Did you know that millions of women worldwide are affected by lipedema? Many don’t even know they have it. Lipedema is a chronic condition characterized by the abnormal accumulation of fatty tissue, primarily in the legs and arms. It often goes misdiagnosed or undiagnosed, leading to unnecessary pain and emotional distress.

💕 **Why Awareness Matters** 💕

Awareness is the first step toward proper diagnosis and treatment. Lipedema is often mistaken for obesity, but it’s a distinct medical condition that requires specialized care. By raising our voices and sharing knowledge, we can empower those suffering in silence to seek the help they need.

💪 **You Are Not Alone** 💪

Community and support are critical for anyone dealing with Lipedema. Whether you’re a patient, family member, or healthcare provider, sharing your stories and experiences can make a world of difference. Let’s break the stigma and stand together for better health and awareness.

What is Lymphoedema?

Lymphoedema is an abnormal accumulation of protein- rich fluid in the interstitium, which causes chronic inflammation and reactive fibrosis of the affected tissue. It occurs where damaged lymph nodes (glands) and/or vessels drain into that part of the body.

~

There are two major types of Lymphoedema, but both are an abnormal accumulation of protein rich fluid:

Primary Lymphoedema can develop because of an abnormal lymph vascular system. It can occur at any age from infancy to elderly.

Secondary Lymphoedema is often caused from surgery or perhaps radiation treatment for various cancers, including breast cancer or prostate cancer. It can also be caused by other trauma.
