Here are some of my best tips for keeping remote teams accountable:

- Set clear expectations and goals. Make sure everyone knows exactly what is expected of them in their role and what key metrics/deliverables they'll be measured on. Define success clearly.

- Implement a robust project management system. Tools like Asana, Trello or Jira allow you to assign tasks, track progress, provide visibility to the team. It keeps everyone on the same page.

- Schedule regular check-ins. Whether daily standups, weekly 1:1s, or monthly team calls - consistent communication keeps teams connected and accountable. Use video to build interaction.

- Develop a results-only work environment (ROWE). Focus accountability exclusively on outputs, not time spent working. This allows flexibility but also clear evaluation metrics.

- Provide feedback frequently. Don't wait for formal reviews. Regular positive and constructive feedback keeps everyone improving and engaged in their work.

- Empower managers to monitor staff. Equip people leaders with the tools and authority to properly track, evaluate and coach team members on an ongoing basis.

- Celebrate wins publicly. Recognizing top performers helps others stay motivated. Praise both efforts and deliverables.

- Be transparent. Share team metrics openly so everyone can see progress and how their work contributes to collective goals.
