Take our Espadín, hide it away in American oak barrels for six months and you get our perfectly aged Reposado. Find a richness of notes in a slightly smoother and delightfully caramel complexion.

agave type: Estate-farmed Espadín harvested after 7-8 years

soil/habitat: Varied soils, terrains, and altitudes

region: Cultivated in San Dionisio Ocotepec, Oaxaca in the district of Tlacolula

oven: Cooked for 3-5 days in an earthen pit using pine wood

mill: Crushed in tahona (circular millstone)

fermentation: 10-12 days in pine vats with wild (natural) yeast

distillation: Twice distilled in copper stills

aging: 4-6 months in re-charred American oak barrels with agave worms

Interesting fact: Tacos al pastor were created in the 1920s in Puebla, Mexico, by Lebanese immigrants who introduced the region to classic shawarma: roast lamb served on a flour tortilla or pita bread (pan árabe). This creation was originally known as tacos árabes, and used meat cooked on a vertical, or upright, grill.

One of our founders worked at a taqueria in Mexico City, so he has the knowledge on how to prepare it, marinate it, how to grill it and what ingredients the adobo has so it tastes as if you are in Mexico City! 🔥😍🤤🙌🏽

‘El Jolgorio Ancestral Arroqueño’ A Bold, Sustainable Mezcal Masterpiece 🤎🥃

Crafted by Mezcalero Felipe Velasco Jiménez in El Platanar, Sola de Vega, Oaxaca, this exceptional mezcal is a true labor of love and respect for tradition. Made from 100% semi-wild Maguey Arroqueño (Agave) that can take up to 20 years to mature, each batch is a limited release to ensure sustainable production and conservation of younger wild agave plants

El Jolgorio translates to “the revelry”. Jolgorios are small festivals that occur in remote, mountain villages throughout Oaxaca, Mexico. They celebrate births, deaths, weddings and Saint’s days. For centuries, the lifeblood of these celebrations has been traditional mezcal. In 2010, the Cortés family began building a collective of top mezcal distillers from around Oaxaca. As of 2019, El Jolgorio represents sixteen different families, working in ten different regions of Oaxaca, Mexico, each with its own special story. Every bottle is hand-marked with the specific details of each batch, to truly connect the drinker with the family behind the expression.

Upon pouring, El Jolgorio Ancestral Arroqueño captivates with its deep, golden hue. On the nose, bold herbal and spicy aromas tantalize the senses, hinting at the flavors to come. The palate is greeted with a masterful blend of intense yet smooth, earthy, vegetal, and smoky notes, underscored by a pleasant pepperiness that lingers pleasantly on the finish 👌🏽
