Meet some of our community’s wonderful volunteers. Today they are making sure that everyone gets to feel the love and spirit of Christmas at the SANDBAG Christmas gathering. They have put together a wonderful lunch, carols and activities for over 100 people.
Thank you to all the residents and local businesses that have also supported this event. I made sure there is a Lions Christmas Cake for the volunteers to enjoy with a cuppa at the end of the day when they finally put their feet up ⭐️
Merry Christmas everyone 🎄

The Christmas cheer continues with Lions Christmas cake deliveries to our retirement villages.
I love catching up with our seniors who have so much wisdom to offer. They also know how to have fun with Hugh telling me about their Christmas gatherings and Cathie shared the fun tour of the village they will do after their Christmas event where they will see everyones decorated houses and light displays. 🎄
They can teach us a lot about building communities 🤗
I know you will all join me in wishing them all a very Merry Christmas ⭐️

Santa came to Bracken Ridge Lions’ Volunteers Christmas Party today 👏🎉🎅 🎄
It was lovely to spend some time relaxing with each other and the families of our fantastic volunteers. Always good to have some train time but great to celebrate another big year of bringing joy to children and raising funds to support others in need.
We look forward to continuing the tradition in 2024 for our community who support us to support others 🙏

I stopped by the Bramble Bay Women’s Shed this morning for a cuppa and to drop of some beautiful woodworking/project books the Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner had been given by a friend. These books were pre loved and treasured and it was so lovely to find a new home for them that I’m sure the previous owner would have been very happy about. 📚
Days like today really emphasise the need to get the shed sealed to make it a more workable space and we are looking for volunteers who may be kind enough to lend their time, skills and resources to make this happen. If you are able to assist you can email [email protected] or contact my office at [email protected]
Thank you to the PM village at Bald Hills for providing a home to the group 🙏
If you have been looking to join a group and learn more about building and creating please contact the ladies for more information. They are a fantastic bunch of ladies and very welcoming. 🤗🩷

Congratulations to all the volunteers who received their 10 year service certificates today at the Sailability Shorncliffe Christmas party and thank you for volunteers. I was thrilled to be able to attend on behalf of the Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner and thank all of the amazing volunteers who provide on water activities for people with disabilities of all ages. Whether it’s a sail in a dinghy or a ride on the pontoon boat these wonderful locals ensure that everyone can enjoy our beautiful waterways right here on our doorstep.
They are always looking for new volunteers to help out during school terms and operate each Monday from 8am till 1pm from the Qld Cruising Yacht Club, 69 Sinbad Street, Shorncliffe.
You don’t need to be able to sail, but you do need to have a boat licence to operate the power boats. Regardless there are many other ways you can contribute.
