Our KEPERRA store is finally open!!! 😍💃🕺

11 months ago, our favourite audiologist Tom Garwood, Ben and I had the crazy idea to open another audiology clinic on the north side of Brisbane. Ben and I walked around for about a month looking like stunned mullets contemplating the idea and thinking can we make this work? Are we taking too much on? Is this the right time?? We had only been open for 8 months at Wynnum and while business was going really well, we were worried about taking on too much, too soon.

We had a couple of false starts thinking we had found the perfect tenancy and builder to complete the works, but unfortunately, these didn't work out. It was a difficult and stressful time thinking we had wasted months of progress and still had no end in sight. So we regrouped and phoned the fixer of all things Future Interior Linings who we've worked with previously at our home, and who built our soundproof booth at Wynnum! Like always, Adam and his team were ready to take on the job and within 8 weeks, everything had come together and the building was complete!

Is a holiday really a holiday when you’re confined to a campervan for two weeks with two small children? 😅 Probably not our best idea, but we’re still alive, still married and we did some pretty cool things.

If you were lucky enough to be there, you would have been exposed to a peak sound level of 123.8dB. You’re probably going to find your ears ringing for the evening or even a day or so. Don’t stress, you’ve probably just had a temporary threshold shift. It’s a bit like a bruise to your ears from the high intensity noise. It’s not the sort of thing you want to be doing regularly, but if you’re going to give your hair cells a good thrashing, cheering on the Tillies is a pretty good reason to do it.

Did you know we can visit hospitals or aged care facilities to fit hearing aids or assist with other hearing devices?

We’ve had a number of clients reach out to help when their loved one has been rushed off to hospital without their hearing aid, or they’ve realized there’s a problem with their current hearing device and need urgent assistance. Ben has been able to work with these clients to get them hearing again and to be able to communicate effectively with their caregivers.

If you ever find yourself or your loved ones in this situation, please reach out as there are many ways we can help.

To be eligible for the Hearing Services Program, generally you must meet one of the following criteria:

✅ a Pensioner Concession Card holder
✅ a Department of Veterans’ Affairs Gold Card holder
✅ a Department of Veterans’ Affairs White Card holder issued for specific conditions that include hearing loss
✅ receiving Sickness Allowance from Centrelink
✅ a dependent of a person in one of the above categories
✅ a member of the Australian Defence Force
✅ referred by the Disability Employment Services (Disability Management Services) Program

There are a range of different hearing services available to you including:
- Fully subsidised hearing tests
- Fully & partially subsidised hearing aids
- Assistive listening devices
- Annual maintenance such as batteries and repairs
- Access to rehabilitation services

If you have already obtained hearing services under the Hearing Services Program, you can easily transfer the management of your care to another provider. We can do this at your next appointment or over the phone.
