Riverina Day Surgery is thrilled to announce its ten-year milestone of surgical excellence, having recently celebrated a decade since welcoming its first patient on 4th July 2014.

Kawana Private Hospital and Sunshine Coast Day Surgery co-hosted a successful Optometry CPD Education Day on Sunday 28th July at the Novotel Sunshine Coast Resort.

The full day event had a fantastic turnout of fifty-two local optometrists, seven Cura employees, and featured presentations from five of our Sunshine Coast Ophthalmologists: Dr. Warren Apel, Dr. Sonia Moorthy, Dr. James Walker, Dr. Tuan Tran and Dr. Ebony Smith.

This event was an opportunity for ophthalmologists to share their expertise and knowledge to local optometrists and emphasized the importance of collaboration between these specialties to improve patient care.

In honour of JulEye (National Eye Health Awareness Month) we would like to recognise The Eye Hospital, a leading ophthalmic surgery centre in Tasmania. In 1993 The Eye Hospital, became the first registered day procedure centre in Tasmania. It has 3 operating theatres utilising the latest state-of-the-art equipment together with a fully equipped first and second stage recovery unit.

The Eye Hospital also has theatre facilities for dental procedures requiring general anaesthesia that are performed in the safe and controlled environment of the hospital.

This month's Spotlight of the Month is West Leederville Private Hospital. West Leederville Private Hospital has been providing exceptional care to both day stay and overnight patients since opening in 2017. The hospital provides cosmetic, reconstructive, skin cancer and hand/wrist trauma surgical services. West Leederville Private Hospital features 8 overnight beds situated in the Ward, 5 Stage I recovery beds, 6 Stage II recovery beds and 3 Stage III Recliners.

At Cura Day Hospitals Group, we prioritise the health and safety of our patients, staff, and communities by following the ‘5 moments of hand hygiene’ recommend by Hand Hygiene Australia. This means you will see us wash our hands before touching a patient or person, before and after a procedure, and after touching a patient/person or their environment. We monitor our commitment to hand hygiene using observational audits (watching) our staff preform these behaviours. We’re proud to share that our Audit Two – 2024 resulted in a score of 89.1% surpassing the national standard of 87.5%.
