The first Qld Public Homebirth Program is live!!!
Queensland's first ever publicly funded homebirth program is now live on the Sunshine Coast. 🎉
A team of obstetricians, midwives, medical staff, and mums have played a major role in developing the service that will now give parents more choice when it comes to their birthing options.
For the past several months, the team has been planning the new service and systems testing using simulations. This is to ensure our frontline health staff know how best to support women birthing at home and to treat any complications that arise with mother and baby in a timely and effective way.
You can express your interest in a homebirth by talking to your GP or sending an email to [email protected].
Congratulations to the team for developing this Queensland-first service that is set to provide more options and support for women and their families to make informed choices about their maternity care! ❤️
This exciting new service is funded by the Putting Patient's First 2024-25 plan, which aims to provide more maternity care closer to home, for Queensland women.

Long awaited Qld PFHB guidelines. You can send this to any hospital and ask them to commence a working group to implement.
Why was this email not sent to maternity consumer groups or homebirth advocacy groups?
Why has harmful policy been announced without consumer or private midwifery consultation?
Does the government support women’s rights to choose bodily autonomy?
Does the government want to widen the gap for First Nations women?
Why are women with disability still being excluded from policy that doesn’t adhere to the disability discrimination act?
Remove the phrase ‘low risk’ from legislation or watch the freebirth rate continue to rise.
Maternity consumers have never been so disgusted by an out of touch government budget night announcement.
Woohoo
