Our client’s Nordhavn 68 ‘Senjero’ is back in the water after her hardstand maintenance. Thanks to our contractors and the Rivergate hardstand crew. Stella Marine Rivergate Marina and Shipyard

My client’s Nordhavn 68 Senjero’s propellers getting their Propspeed application. The main engine prop and also the feathering or folding prop for the wing engine, also know as the ‘get home’ engine, should the main engine have a catastrophic failure when crossing oceans. The wing engine is also used when docking to drive the huge hydraulic bow and stern thrusters. We can achieve approximately 6 knots running on the ‘get home’’ or wing engine alone.

All hands on deck (or buffing machines!) this week polishing some of our client’s boats. A cool Boston Whaler, a Riviera and the Nordhavn. A shiny fleet is a happy fleet!

So thrilled to be given this amazing Fleming 65 half model. Thanks Johanna & Nicholas, it’s gone to a very appreciative home and will look great in my office. I have enjoyed getting to know these guys over the last few years, sharing some beautiful anchorages along our Queensland coast. Exciting times for them, with their new Fleming 85 only months away from launching. Then they are literally cruising around the world on her! Looking forward to following their adventures on their Instagram page .

A clean ship is a happy ship!

Returning the beautiful classic Norman R Wright built Lorellen from Pittwater to Brisbane after her Christmas holiday down south. We had the tightest weather window and steamed nonstop, a 54 hour passage, hugging the beach all the way, avoiding the worst of the 2 knot southerly East Australian Current. Conditions were rolly at times with residual seas from the southerly buster in the days prior to our departure, but with the steadying sail set all the way, conditions weren’t too uncomfortable. Such a lovely boat and great crew with the owner Doug, his brother Ted and our good mate Tony onboard, there was no shortage of experienced hands! YouTube video to come!

Underway onboard the beautiful Norman R Wright built classic, Lorellen for our return passage, Pittwater to Brisbane! It’s a tight weather window and there’s certainly some residual sea from Sunday’s southerly so it’s time to crack out the steadying sail!

Loading my client’s yacht onto the for shipping back home to the USA after their 5 year circumnavigation of the world! Next stop for this ship is Ensenada, Mexico! For those who haven’t seen this impressive concept before - they actually submerge the ship to allow the vessels access to drive in! Then a massive team of divers and crew set about securing the boats in cradles underwater and lines before the ship is raised again like a giant drydock, before setting sail for the three week passage!

I’ve always loved ‘half models’, so you can imagine my excitement when this one popped up for sale! To my surprise and joy, the guy selling it happened to be the son of one of Brisbane’s best known and loved wooden boat builders - Bert Ellis! Sadly Bert recently passed away, but his legacy of beautiful wooden boats lives on. We aren’t quite sure which boat this is, but with those beautiful distinct lines I’m hoping someone out there might be able to identify her?! Cheers

Brisbane to the Pittwater, onboard my mate Doug’s Norman R Wright designed and built, ‘Lorellen’. Along with Tony Arnold onboard, we picked the perfect weather window with light northerlies all the way. We were a few days early for our Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club berth, where Lorellen is spending the Christmas holidays, so big thanks to Mac Marine Group and Rowell Marine Shipwights who spotted us and offered a temporary berth! Land Ho!! 48 hour, 400 nautical mile nonstop passage from Brisbane to Pittwater onboard the classic Moreton Bay cruiser ‘Lorellen’! More photos and YouTube video to come.

Return delivery Hamilton Island to Brisbane, with my crewman Greg, onboard my client’s Riviera 50 SMY! Fun to bump into and share our fresh Snapper with my old mate and client Jim onboard his Tsukiji who was also waiting out the southerly blow behind Fraser Island!
