🔥 Rae’s hot tips for the best glamping grazing platter ever! 🔥

Wooohoooo!!! Greater Brisbane lockdown is lifting at midday today, Thursday 1st April! 🎉

We know many of you are planning a getaway for the Easter long weekend. Just because you are away from home, you don’t have to miss out on great food and wine. 🥰

Our cheese & charcuterie board from a recent camping trip was almost completely devoured before I even got to the bottom of my first glass of bubbly! 🥂

Below is a list of my favourite Rosalie Gourmet products to help you assemble THE BEST grazing platter (for indoors or outdoor use). 🏕🏡

Firm favourites are always D'affinois, St Agur, Cabot's cheddar, L'amuse Brabander Goats, Truffle Manchego and Woombye Washed Rind. 🧀

Pair these cheeses with some charcuterie including Chorizo Pamploma, Truffle salami, Finocchiona, hot sopressa, bresaola & prosciutto. 🥓

We accompanied this with bacon jam (yes, it's a thing and it's great with cheese!), Barossa bark, lavosh, grissini, quince, fresh berries and couple of bars of Maleny Chocolate Co chocolates for good measure (no surprises the kids gobbled this first).🍓🍫🥖

Don't forget to grab your marshmallows, nitrate free bacon and Big Boys organic eggs before heading off, and of course, visit the Wine Experience for the all important bottle or two of something delicious to chill down and enjoy.

We are open from 7am to 6pm today, plus we are open EVERYDAY over the Easter long weekend from 7am to 5pm. 🎉

We're back! Power was restored yesterday and the store is open. Fridges are running and wines are chilled, for your drinking pleasure.

Huge thanks go to the wonderful community at Rosalie Village for all of your help, kind words and encouragement.

Special thanks to Rae at and the guys at for lending us generators so that we could run aircon and wine fridges to preserve wine stock during the six days without power.

We were incredibly fortunate to have not lost stock, with most damage only to the actual fit-out itself. Many other businesses in the village faired far worse than us and our hearts go out to them. The entire village will need support in the weeks and months to come to get everyone back up and running.

Thank you to our fantastic landlords for being on the ground with us everyday, doing whatever they could to help not just us, but anyone in the area that needed it. And thanks also to the Lockyer family for organising dump runs and street cleans, and for generally just boosting morale and helping everyone in the village. We saw many repeat faces coming through day after day, doing whatever they could for the community here.

Some minor works are continuing in the bar area, but we should be pouring drinks again there by Thursday at the latest.

Big love to Rosalie ❤

Due to the current Covid situation, we've made the tough call to close the bar on Sundays, just for the time being.

For now, the bar will trade Wednesday to Saturday from 3pm, but we will post any changes as circumstances evolve. We hope to pour for you on Sundays again soon!

We thank you for all your support in these difficult times, and encourage you to pop down for a glass of the lovely Pa Pa Pinot Noir, just added to the chalkboard list 🍷

Wine of the week! Domaine de Viranel Trilogie 2018 - Languedoc 🇫🇷 This is the kind of value for money beauty that only the Languedoc region in France can deliver. Imported by a Frenchman who has a nose for quality, it comes from 50 - 75 year old vines in the St Chinian area and is composed of 34% Syrah, 33% Alicante- Bouschet and 33% Cabernet Sauvignon. It’s intensely aromatic, beautifully fruited in a medium bodied frame and delivers incredible value for money. Get on it… Highly recommended!

Beautiful nose of outstanding purity for a wine at this price. Lifted sweet cherry and rose petal aromas usher in a medium weight gorgeous palate showing tangy cherry infused flavours with wild raspberry nuances and smoky peppery/spice notes. It’s silky and supple in texture with a pleasing aftertaste of wonderfully detailed sun-kissed Languedoc fruit 🤗 https://wineexperience.com.au/wine/domaine-de-viranel-trilogie-languedoc

10/04/2021

Just rocked in! This is another knockout wine from Elio Altare, dark and full bodied with refreshing acidity and plenty of dark berry fruit. This is a very easy wine to enjoy on its own or with your favourite Italian cuisine. Or while you wait for your Barolo’s to mature... https://wineexperience.com.au/wine/elio-altare-barbera-d-alba-piedmont

Wine of the week! La Violetta ÉPICÉ 2019
Western Australia - 11.9% Alc. "...Such fun. Such ease of drinking. Sort of a rosé. Very cool." - Mike Bennie, The Wine Front, 92 POINTS
We have a unique white wine this week from the avant guard Western Australian winery La Violetta. Winemaker AJ Hoadley is a lovely bloke with a wicked sense of humour and an infectious sense of fun. This is his crazy blend of Vermentino, Black Frontignac, Riesling, Zibibbo and Savagnin Rose. It’s kinda like an amber/orange wine with a slight onion-skin blush to the colour, and you can even think of it as a light rosé given the variant skin contact the individual grape varieties receive.

It’s aromatic and so inviting with a spicy grapey deliciousness, some tangy pear juice, subtle ginger and green herbs, texture and zesty freshness, each variety making a personal positive statement. Something different.

Something delicious and beautiful! Keep experimenting and exploring, as that’s where the magic happens. Give it a go! 👊🏽 https://wineexperience.com.au/wine/la-violetta-epice-great-southern

Wine of the week! La Petite Vanguard Grenache 2020
Blewitt Springs - McLaren Vale - 13.4% Alc **(Low sulphur wine)**
"It’s fun. It pops. But it’s also quite serious too. Delivers flavour with a light touch..." 94 Points, Gary Walsh, The Wine Front

This is another beautiful Grenache from maestro Michael Corbett at Vanguardist Wines. You may remember the top shelf 'Rende' Grenache from Vanguardist that we offered recently. This weeks wine of the week is the 'La Petite Vanguard' from the same grower Robert Rende in the highly prized Blewitt Springs subregion.

La Petite Vanguard is Michael's example of a Bistro style wine, but it's better than that - the experimental sibling to Vanguardist. It is youthful & alive, very pretty on the nose, medium weight, with beautiful Grenache fruit, pleasing savouriness, great drinkability, enhanced by layers of complexity from thoughtful, intelligent winemaking.

For all those sensitive to sulphur in wines, this only has 35ppm, which is very low! Most importantly, it is a delicious, micro-batch modern Grenache that oozes charm…Enjoy! 220 dozen produced 👈 https://wineexperience.com.au/wine/la-petite-vanguardist-grenache-mclaren-vale 💪🏽

The Rise and Rise of Cru Beaujolais - The Gang of Four 👈 These Beaujolais producers are so far removed from what one generally expects of 'a Beaujolais' that wine lovers get a shock the first time they try one. The name and appellation have been somewhat tarnished by the easy-drinking light-bodied Gamay based red wines that have flooded international wine markets since the Eighties. You probably remember the annual campaign of Beaujolais Nouveau that arrived every year and delivered somewhat quaffable wines but nothing too special.

Enter the 'Gang of Four', a term coined by author and famed US retailer Kermit Lynch to describe the rise and rise of very high-quality Cru Beaujolais producers, who as a group started to challenge the Pinot based wines of Burgundy proper. Firstly, they were made meticulously from good sites and often not using the standard carbonic maceration technique, which the region had until then had been known for. (As a reminder, carbonic maceration produces simple, fruity wines for early consumption).

The Gang of Four are Jean Foillard, Thevenet, Guy Breton and Marcel Lapierre. These wines from these outstanding producers have the structure of great Burgundy with similar wondrous perfume and seriousness. Still, compared to the ever more expensive Burgundy, they are much more affordable.

So we hope this post inspires you to rediscover this beautiful region and its impressive wines, as interpreted by some of the best winemakers in France. Enjoy 👍🏽😉 https://wineexperience.com.au/campaign/best-beaujolais-wine

Wine of the week! Paltrinieri Radice Lambrusco di Sorbara NV 👈 "One bottle probably won't be enough." Wine Enthusiast - #21 Top 100 of 2020 - 95 points
Nestled amongst our sparklings is something of a fabulous oddity - a bone dry, pink, sparkling Italian wine from Emilia-Romagna in the north of Italy. This wine has practically flown off the shelf through summer, and customers just keep coming back for more. Cantina Paltrinieri’s Radice is a modern, energetic, bone dry example of an elegant and ancient variety… dusty pale pink/orange, unfiltered, rustic, with notes of citrus, violet, dried cherry, raspberry, stone fruit, and grapefruit. Absolutely perfect as an aperitif. Secondary fermentation occurs in the bottle on natural yeasts and the wine is unfiltered, making it an easy recommendation for our pet-nat lovers as well. Previously tied with string when I first discovered this wine (such a novelty!), it is now under crown seal. The Radice is absolutely stunning. Having family in Emilia-Romagna myself, I can speak to its authenticity. I have nurtured a love of this wine for years now… it is my go-to when for a fun gift, when I visit someone’s house, or for aperitivo in general. We’ve received such positive feedback from our customers, and it’s no wonder considering the accolades this wine has received. Cheers Sarah 🥂

The artist! If you have been into our store recently, you will have noticed quite a few changes. We are always looking for ways to enhance your shopping experience. Along with completing our intimate European style tapas/wine bar, we have partnered with one of our favourite people and local artists John Wren to redesign our Wine Experience labels. In the summer of 2015, John Wren and his wife Catherine first visited Wine Experience. It was their quiet confidence about the Wine Experience range that struck them both. Fast forward to 2020, it was time to complete what some people consider the holy trinity, wine, food and art. The partnership was born in a unique manner which could have only happened in this place. John Wren’s conscious effort to create as broad a range of artistic styles and techniques as possible was perfectly adapted to a wide and varied range of wines featured in the Wine Experience wines. Being able to marry these exceptional but underestimated wines with bold and robust artworks has given a face to what has always been some of Australia’s best value wines. With the Wine Experience team continually sourcing unique and exciting wines combined with John’s prolific nature to create new work, this series is destined to expand and evolve for your viewing and drinking pleasure. You can now buy the wine and drink the art! Cheers

Just rocked in and pouring in the bar! A new release from one of our favourite people, Marc Lunt of Terrason 🤗 2019 Aligoté Gamay Crémant, a gorgeous dry sparkling, fresh red apples, pear drop and citrus notes, with a lovely creamy mouthfeel 🥂BTW, there are two meanings attributed to ‘Crémant’ in the sparkling world, there is the ‘Crémant de’ used by 9 regions in France for the Méthode Traditionnelle sparkling produced in that area, eg Crémant de Bourgogne. Apparently the word was recompense to these regions when the Champagne growers and houses won the battle in France over the use of the word Champagne 🍾 ‘Crémant’ as used by Marc, designates the wine is a little less effervescent, with a little less pop and more of a velvety creamy mousse, about 1 bar give or take less of pressure, what Crémant used to mean in Champagne 👍🏽

Wine of the week! Kay Brothers Basket Press Shiraz 2019
McLaren Vale - 14.0% Alc
Today we are recommending a beautiful wine from one of Australia’s most iconic wineries in McLaren Vale, Kay Brothers.

Established in 1890 by Herbert and Frederick Kay this is a traditional shiraz producer of exceptional integrity and quality making wines with distinct regionality and character.

The varied usage of oak including some Hungarian oak gives a slight point of difference in a very positive way. Otherwise, it’s a classic full-bodied McLaren Vale Shiraz; supple and smooth with beautiful dark chocolate and rich blackberry/plum fruit that oozes charm and savoury goodness. Drink now or hold for 5 - 10 years. years.

Just a gorgeous wine from one of Australia’s great historical wineries! Link in bio 👌

Wine of the week!
Antonutti Pinot Grigio 2019
A store favourite with customers and staff this new vintage Italian Pinot Grigio from Friuli is bristling with energy and beautiful natural acidity showing quality varietal fruit which is not always a given with Italian Pinot Grigio at this price.

Needless to say the wines of Antonutti are fantastic, and we love their freshness and delicate texture. It just shows how blessed this part of Italy is for white wine production.

Some say the secret is the location between mountains in the north and the Adriatic sea to the south. A sweet spot of cool nights and warm summer days, perfect for ripening Pinot Grigio and retaining its fresh, natural acidity and energy.

Highly recommended! - Scott and Constantine 👈 link in bio to get some or drop by the store 👊🏽

Wine of the week! Francesco Cirelli Organic Vino Rosso Montepulciano 2019 👈 It is mid weight yet full flavoured, oozes Italianate charm and drinkability, made using minimal intervention as well as minimal sulphur. It shows a beautifully pure expression of Montepulciano, unhindered by oak, with ripe cherry/savoury dark plum fruit at the fore, and as you’d expect from Montepulciano, there’s a gentle tarry savouriness that balances the primary fruit with hints of wild herbs adding further interest. Crafted by one of the finest exponents of Montepulciano in Abruzzo, this is great stuff! CR 👊🏽
