Dear Medical students and Junior Doctors
The Health Design Lab is currently working on a project exploring the decline in Australian medical students and junior doctors interested in becoming general practitioners. We will be asking junior doctors and medical students to share their perspectives and experience of this challenge and ideas for future improvement.
We are currently recruiting junior doctors and medical students who are interested in taking part in this project.
If you are a medical student or junior doctor and would like to take part, please follow the link and fill out the expression of interest form.
Interviews will be taking place in December 2022 and early January 2023. Attached is a participant information sheet and project flyer for more details about the project.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Health Design Lab at [email protected] and a member of the team will get back to you.
About the Health Design Lab: We are a specialised team within the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care (the department). We listen to peoples' real-world experiences to understand how policies and programs impact their lives. This informs how they should be designed and implemented in future.
We invite all JMOs to join us for a peer-led check in to share your concerns and let us know how you're going :)

Junior doctor years are the most vulnerable time for doctors to develop a mental illness, and with the challenges associated with the COVID pandemic things have been..ruff. Spending time with loved ones and pets is a great way to practice self-care and work on your wellbeing at home! And if you're having issues at work around aspects such as overtime, workload or PPE access, the JMOFQ is a peer-led forum here to hear your concerns and offer support and advice for escalation.
Share a picture of your supportive pet below and join us for our first Check-In of the year on the 31st March to share your concerns in a supportive peer environment ๐๐ถ๐ฑ
