The Jimfit Movement is the brainchild of Jimi Clifford, a tertiary qualified and dedicated exercise scientist with a passion for movement efficiency. Movement restriction experienced by our bodies can prevent us from training (and living) to our fullest potential. A more efficient pattern of movement is the key universal factor, providing a simple yet enhanced quality of life. This is what the Jim

TRAINING TO FAILURE?
I’ve found continually training to failure and leaving no reps, time or effort in the training room leads to feeling buggered and slowly fatigues your nervous system where you’ve got little to give and hinders results over time!
The literature suggests greater acute fatigue and muscle damage is present with training to failure and can have an impact on long term adaptations, so consider recovery time if doing so! - https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34881412/
Take away - for the most part work shy of failure with the recommendation that makes most sense to your type of training:
- RIR (reps in reserve) 2-5
- Work at 70- 85%
- Work 2 levels below your best
*This relates mostly when looking for strength and skill based improvements!
Train hard and safe and effective soul mates

FILM FOR A LATER DATE
Reminiscing back to my first ring sequence achieved under the tutelage of , where I was happy with what i'd done here!
There are many reasons to film and here is one I don't usually lead with... is that it can show you how far you have come and what you have learnt. In saying this I can see many areas I have tightened up on each section here too.
Film your movement for many reasons friends!
Looking forward to more ring things in the future.

WHY GOALS
“We often underestimate what we can achieve in 3 years and overestimate what we can achieve in 1 year” - Vishen
I’m a believer in setting GOALS as it is another step closer to the outcome writing down what you want to achieve. In a way it starts forming our IDENTITY . Personally, I have visions of where I want to be with:
Health&Fitness 🐒
Parenting 👨👧
Love relationship 💙
Career 💹
Quality of Life ✨🌿
The cool thing is you can achieve pretty much anything you set out to achieve in 3 years with the right INTENTIONS.
I say make sure what YOU are doing excites you and it comes from a place of serving or passion because the first year may not be linear and may take a while to figure things out and be a bit of a MUDDY PROCESS.
If you get the right METHODS from someone that knows it can cut the time and frustration and stop you chasing your tail ⭕️
Peeeps that I see smash it 🔥 are the ones that really want it, take action straight away and chip away CONSISTENTLY even if there are rejections along the way.
I say really enjoy those days that you think may suck at the time and be patient it’s coming 🙏🏼🙂
Keep moving & evolving
🦘🌤🌿😍
🧚♂️LET YOUR WINGS ALLOW FREEDOM (1)🧚♀️
Wings being AKA Shoulder blades or scapula can lead to many potential issues if they are not working properly, these include:
👉🏼Headaches and tightness in neck & shoulders
👉🏼Weakness in big pushing & pulling movements
👉🏼Poor posture overloading joints and potentially causing elbow, shoulder pain and more
The movement paradigm 🔺in most scenarios starts with a greater understanding of awareness of body in motion and mobilisation to allow for greater levels of freedom and strength.
Over the coming weeks I am going to share scapula mobilisation drills till I crave another topic. They can be incorporated into your practice as you please.

I’m a firm believer that it’s not always WHAT you do for the result it’s HOW we perform the technique and understand STATE & FUNCTION.
PLAY DATES WITH FLO
Many times during a given week Florence gets to see "Dada" moving, playing and trying new things and to others it probably seems a bit silly, however we have a good time and makes us feel good :)
As parents we are constantly role modelling and they follow suit most often than not whether I'm doing handstands, climbing or even meditating... not quite got the meditating down yet haha
I say be more like kids, move, play and have a good time.
WHY WRIST PREP
This can be the make or break in a training situation or even with life having the fingers, hands and wrists active, full of life and pain free is key.
If you’re not doing wrist work already it is important to note wrist structures, such as connective tissues, ligaments and tendons can be conditioned to deal with loaded movements and prevent issues occurring.
It is important to slowly and patiently build wrist flexibility, strength & resilience with consistent and progressive work, as if you were doing the thing (I.e. handstands, push ups or whatever your training goal is).
Hope this helps, key is to start and be patient with it! I have got great changes with students over the past few years engaging in wrist activities.
If you would like the wrist prep exercises I do leave a comment below and I will shoot some over
TIGHT RESTRICTED BODY?
Don’t let your flexibility hold you back from doing what you love to do.
Move more and sit less...
I see a lack of flexibility stop people engaging and immersing themselves in the activities they love the most, which can be playing with our loved ones, sons, daughters, nephews, engaging in a chosen sport be it dance, martial arts, acro, movement… or getting outdoors, whatever it may be it sucks if we can not enjoy it to the MAX!
WHAT DO YOU DO TO IMPROVE RANGE OF MOTION? COMMENT BELOW
It’s frustrating when you have to question whether or not you are able to do something because the brain or body may send feedback that the position is not possible or could send pain signals.
Above is a good incentive to move as much of the body daily with good postures through range, here’s some to try:
1. SL good morning - X 5 EL + 10” hold on last rep
2. AG extension - X 5 + 10” hold on last rep
3. Kneeling floor butchers block - 30-60” hold
4. Active hero - X 5 + 10” hold
*Perform for 2 rounds

MY BJJ WHITE BELT LIFE
I have been learning the skilful art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) since Jan 2019.
My eyes were first opened to BJJ by a movement teacher - Ido, stating that BJJ possesses many movement qualities / locomotive patterns.
When I landed back in Brisbane from my wedding and Europe adventure I signed up at Atos, Brisbane and have been learning the art of BJJ from my great teacher Antonio Mota. The journey, so far has taught me many lessons and is a great challenge, including so many things, such as:
> Another world - at the start with learning many new skill many things about it are foreign, yet fun. In warm ups we were doing forwards rolls, backward rolls, hip escapes and all these new patterns to get ready for the session / rolls and it felt like I had’t done it in forever or ever and felt very clumsy doing even the warm up, let alone the drills.
> Accept the suck - I’ve come to realise pretty quickly I know very little and my so called strength I thought I had did not carryover, till I understand some of the basics in the game. This realisation came in many forms, such as; burning myself out by trying to muscle everything and holding on tight or being unable to escape when someone is pinning me or not being able to escape to the point of being submitted to knowing the important step of finding a position to advance from - - none of this was happening I can honestly say I spent a solid 6 months with my back pinned on the mat getting tangled up and being submitted with all different techniques.
> Learn from others - You can learn from others in many ways from being choked out to asking a specific question. The willingness of others to help you develop skills in this sport is honestly what makes it so great and creates that community feel and to know everyone is learning and elevating one another.
To a journey of developing my BJJ game - OSS!
