The art of headshot photography is helping people understand that only they micro view and judge themselves.
No one else looks at you the way you do.
To put my theory to the test I participated in Spencer Tunick's Brisbane installation...nude.
As I strolled naked through Howard Smith Wharves with 5500 others, my head chattered throughout the morning my views on my left b**b versus my right b**b.
Then reminded myself to practice what I preach. It was only my thoughts of this opinion...
No one was even looking at them because they were too worried about whatever they thought of themselves.
This was such a fun experience I'll never do again but intrigued my fascination with the art and behaviour of humans. With so many stories to tell.

Look up! As I see less and less photos on social media, I capture my shot first, then include a video version. Photos allow us to tap into our imagination and creative minds... What do you see? And do you know where I am?
On the night of their 10 year celebration, Robert from Integration Kings had photos from the last 10 years scrolling on the big screen.
Simple and so effective. With clients and the team featured in the photos, it was easy to see how valued and appreciated they were to the ten year success of IK.

What a lovely way to spend the morning - interviewing some of the inspiring staff at Alzheimer's Queensland and working with one of my favourites, Social Media Photographers!
Creating short-form video and fashion design is kids play, 9 year old Ashton and his interviewer, 10 yr old Alana Pace (I'm starting to name drop now!) show us how it's done.
What was interesting in filming this piece was Ashton's concerns were the same as every adult.
"I'm nervous, I don't know what to say or where to look" etc etc
I'm not sure if he believed me when I said every adult I film, feel the same way and we worked together to create this outcome.
So stoked we could help Ashton out, for a last minute video that will be playing as his festive design hits the runway at Kidz Fashion Week.

Robert would have been one of the first people I met at the Brisbane North Chamber of Commerce in 2015 and since then, he and the Integration Kings team have trusted me with their profile photos and milestone events.
The best part of their ten year celebration was the simple impact of a photo slide show they prepared, that scrolled throughout the night.
That's the value of photos... their value increases historically. Make todays photos great, it may not mean as much today but in ten years time they'll bring a reminiscent tear to your eye.

The easiest way to make your products look great in phone photos is to experiment with backdrops. Often I see beautiful handmade items on sterile, harsh backdrops.
🔎Using a wood plate for our handpainted Easter eggs made sense, connecting them as raw materials and it was dark enough for a beautiful contrast of colour letting the eggs do all the talking.

Guess where I went last week?
A clever child, adolescent & teen psychologist knows how important it is to have photos of her office so her clients know what to expect on their first visit. How good is it when there's a Google image of the outside too so you know where to park 👏
Photos for your Google profile make for a great customer experience in finding you and another tick for social proof that you're the one to contact, before your competitors.
Google your business today and see what prospects are seeing...
Comment "Check Mine!" if you need an outsider set of eyes on your profile 😀 You'll be surprised.
'Mugshots' is a word I've heard a few trade businesses used to describe their staff photos. (not mine of course!) Often said in humour, trade services face the challenge of unwilling staff to get a great profile photo for their business, especially when they're flat out like a lizard drinking.
When clients need to invite your trades into their family home, the trick is capturing your busiest, most serious, best in the business trade looking and feeling:
👩💻 professional
😊 friendly
🙋♂️ approachable and
🕵♂️ trustworthy
So it doesn't look like a mugshot.
It's human nature to make assumptions based on seeing human emotion in a photo to make a connection.
Check out your staff photos, or for more fun, your competitors photos to see what state of emotion they may have been in when their photo was taken.

STOP ✋ ️your 'Happy Father's Day' post for your business page and read this first.
As I schedule my clients social posts for September consider how or why a Father's Day post is of any value to your audience. Here's a few tips on posting with purpose this Father's Day
💥️Retailers | help a client out and remind them your opening hours on Sunday, we all know most of us leave it to the last minute 🤭
💥What products or services do you have that will help the organiser of the family celebration? (Counsellers/Psychologists this could be one for you! 😅)
💥️Service businesses | what is the most relevant solution your business has that serves someone with kids?
If your still stuck, at least include a Dad joke 😊

So back to your post, post with purpose, not just because it's a good excuse to post something.
