If you had a friend who spoke to you in the same way that you sometimes speak to yourself, how long would you allow this person to be your friend?
Remember, the way you treat yourself sets the standard for others. You must love who you are or no one else will. So treat yourself the way you want others to treat you. Stop discrediting yourself for everything you aren’t, and start giving yourself credit for everything you ARE. We have to learn to be our own best friends, because sometimes we fall too easily into the trap of being our own worst enemies.
It has been some time since i have posted. We were crazy busy, then covid hit and turned all our lives upside down.
2.5 yrs later and we are out the other side. It has had such a massive effect on so many.
Now we are temporarily on the move again with Council shutting the Caloundra Aquatic Lifestyle Centre for the month of June to carry out scheduled refurbishments. This will also see the start of a new era of management with a new Lessee to be announced in the middle of June.
I am looking forward to returning to CALC in July, but until then life goes on.
I will still be working hard on all your health and fitness goals.

Tomorrow we farewell a great man taken too soon, Cam Frewer. In a gesture calling for calm on our roads, we're asking riders of all levels to put their to honour not only Cam, but Stephen Small who we also lost while he was riding home at Doonan less than four years ago.
It's a gesture which recognises patience, showing the community we ride, we have families, we have work and we are calm in the saddle and behind the wheel.

We all know that there are many physical and mental benefits of being physically active. But how can we break down the barriers that prevent us from exercising more regularly?
One of the best ways to get back into exercise or to keep active in the long-term is to do it with a friend. Numerous studies have confirmed that exercise is greatly enhanced when you are with a buddy or in a group setting.
So why not stack the odds in your favour! Here are a number of benefits to illustrate that doing it together, is better:
1. Accountability – when you have someone counting on you, you are far less likely to bail on a workout. Making plans to meet your friend at 6pm is much more concrete than vaguely planning to exercise alone “some time after work”. Set a date and don’t be late!
2. Exercise becomes more fun – a key element in forming a lifestyle habit is fun. It’s always more enjoyable to share an experience with a friend. It also allows you to try out other activities. After all, it’s pretty hard to play a game of tennis by yourself.
3. You tend to get more out of the session – you’ll work that bit harder when exercising with a partner. It can bring out a competitive instinct that allows you both to push your limits. You’re more likely to do that extra set or an extra kilometre when you’re being spurred on.
4. Safety – this mainly applies to strength training, but having a partner means that you will always have a spotter. This will help you through final reps and they can keep a close eye on your technique.
5. You are more likely to try new things – ever wanted to try a boxing class but felt intimidated going there alone? With a partner, your excuses are now removed. It opens up all sorts of possibilities to new forms of exercise.
6. Reduced costs – that personal training session or tennis lesson instantly became cheaper for both of you! And, you’ll still get plenty of individual attention from the trainer or coach.
7. Social well-being – social interaction is often listed as an important factor for many people when choosing exercise. Training with a partner gives you that social contact that is often non-existent when going solo.
8. Shared goals – if two of you are working towards a common goal, it helps to build more resolve and resilience. It’s a fantastic feeling to achieve a goal, and it can be even better when you achieve it with someone else.

Muscles, bones and joints are affected by the aging process. Osteoarthritis, osteoporosis and rheumatoid arthritis are more common in older people. Exercise to increase muscle and bone fitness can reduce or reverse the risk of disability and disease. At least half of the age-related changes to muscles, bones and joints are caused by disuse.
We recently ran a promo to increase our gym membership. We had 108 new members sign up in 4 weeks. Out of this nearly 80% are aged 45-65. Now this is great that this age demographic is doing something to improve their health, strength and fitness. What scares me is the number of people that have no core strength, no ability to sit and stand without assistance or have no muscle tone to speak of. If you want to have some quality of life as you get older you need to do some form of exercise/strength training. Your kidding yourself if you dont... its never to late. Make the choice today to create a healthier future.

Well that's it. Time for new beginnings. Feeling a little nostalgic after over 12yrs in the one location..... Time for change and a positive new direction. Will be operating now out of Caloundra Aquatic and lifestyle centre as of Monday. Thanks to everyone who has been part of my journey over such a long period of time.
