Club Bio 2018
Caloundra City Boxing Incorporated, established Janurary 2000 in the heart of Caloundra, Arthur Street hall hosted the club for over 14 years, giving home to often troubled youth, giving purpose to young athletes aspiring to pursue fitness and potential careers within the fight industry. Along with creating a welcoming fitness space for the general public to give boxing a try for fitness.
The club was established after Craig ‘Budgie’ Hill Snr was training his son Craig Hill Jnr out of his garage in Aroona. After witnessing great potential from his young son and friends surrounding, Budgie quickly seized the opportunity and approached the Sunshine Coast Council to launch the club at Arthur Street Stadium – this quickly saw numbers swell, with council support more and more equipment followed. Including a professional ring, 15+ heavy bags, speed balls, weights, ropes, bikes, rowing machines and much more fitness/boxing equipment. Since then, the club has retained great council support and has never looked back…
Craig Hill Snr followed his Grandfather, the late/great William ‘Snowy’ Hill who trained world title contenders such as Elley Bennet and Bobby Sinn in the mid to late 50s. Snowy saw the success of running gyms in Brisbane right up until his passing in 1980. Snowy was Craig’s most influential person and roll model in his upbringing, giving guidance to strength, courage and loyalty – which Budgie teaches today when supporting the youth at the Club.
