Vale Kevan Gosper AO

We mourn the passing of Kevan Gosper AO, who played a defining role in the formation of the Australian Institute of Sport.

As the inaugural Chair of the AIS, a position he held from 1980-1985, Gosper and AIS Director Don Talbot oversaw the official opening of the nation’s first dedicated high performance sporting facility on January 26, 1981.

There were few areas of sport that Gosper didn’t make an impact on. As an athlete, he represented his country at two Olympics (1956, 1960) and two Commonwealth Games (1954, 1958), and continued to serve Australian sport through roles including President of the Australian Olympic Committee and Vice President of the Sydney 2000 Organising Committee.

Playing ball at your local club 👉 #1 MLB Draft Pick 🇦🇺⚾️⭐️

We couldn't be prouder to have supported Aussie Travis Bazzana with a Local Sporting Champions grant when he was starting out in the Baseball NSW junior leagues.

From Stealers Baseball and Softball Club to Ryde Baseball Club Inc, to Team Australia Baseball and Oregon State University, today the Cleveland Guardians selected Travis first in the MLB draft. The first time an Aussie has been taken in the first round, let alone at the top!

Congrats Travis!
