We pride ourselves on the service we provide to our amazing nurses so it is always wonderful to hear their feedback on their placements. This is from one of our nurses who recently worked in Alice Springs Hospital. Thank you Julie Bates we appreciate it, working with you is an absolute pleasure :)
Alice Springs sadly is coping a bad wrap in the news. I am currently on a contract with PEAK at the Alice Springs Hospital. I have not once felt unsafe, l am off campus and walk to the hospital and around the town every days. Yes there is good and bad in every community, but l find them welcoming and friendly. No l don’t walk home after a late shift or to a nightshift, l wouldn’t do that in Melbourne either for the exact reasons. Though Let me say this has been the most amazing experience of my 12 year career in nursing. I have found my passion for nursing again. Alice Springs is such a family vibe , the scenery is breathtaking and there’s so much to do. I have added so much to my professionalism and because l'm in pool nursing l have had the privilege of working around most of the hospital from ED , ICU, NICU, HITH, palliative and the medical/surgical wards. This is my first remote sort of contract and have to say the support l have received from PEAK has been top level. Don’t be fooled this is not the normal , l have heard others say it takes days for a reply off other agencies and not all are on equal pays. Couldn’t recommend enough jumping onboard for a contract at Alice Springs and experiencing this for yourself. It’s a must do

Did you know 90% of breast cancers occur in women with NO family history of breast cancer? 😲
Breast screening can detect breast cancer early, giving you more treatment options. This is why it's important to screen regularly, especially if you don't notice any symptoms or changes to your breasts.
It's free for women over 40 and most effective for those between 50 - 74 years. ✅
If you notice changes to your breasts or have concerns, please speak to your doctor. 👩⚕️

Starting the conversation about mental health can be hard, but it’s important to reach out to those close to you if you need some extra support.
Some ways you can make the conversation easier is:
✔️ do an activity together during the conversation
✔️ only share as much information as you’re ready to
✔️ get your thoughts down in writing first.
If you’re uncomfortable having the conversation with someone close to you, you can access mental health information, support and services online and in person.
