Katherine Ashe is an architect and educator engaging alternate approaches to architectural design. Katherine is a co-founder of vittinoAshe Architects in Boorloo/Perth and a senior lecturer and co-chair of the architectural design stream at the University of Notre Dame in Walyalup/Fremantle. Driven by her childhood in the remote desert regions of Australia, Katherine weaves Traditional and Western knowledge systems into her projects.

Dr Leanne Zilka is an architect and academic based in Melbourne. ZILKA Studio is a multidisciplinary practice bringing together architecture, fashion, textile design and material research for fabrication solutions using fashion and textile technologies and toward light weight solutions at the scale of buildings.

Millie Cattlin is Co-Director of These Are The Projects We Do Together. Working with large site-based projects including Testing Grounds, Siteworks and The Quarry, the practice is unique in its approaches to public space, creative infrastructures, and site-based programming. ..

Katherine Ashe is an architect and educator engaging alternate approaches to architectural design. Driven by her childhood in the remote desert regions of Australia, Katherine weaves Traditional and Western knowledge systems into her projects.

Brendan Moore is a Whadjuk Noongar and Fremantle/Walyalup local who is the Co-chair of the Australian Sustainable Finance Institute First Nations reference group and the Senior Aboriginal Engagement Office at the City of Fremantle. Brendan is an ongoing collaborator and project consultant for numerous architectural projects and design studios in and around Fremantle/Walyalup.

Kathy Meney is CEO and Director at Syrinx, a purpose-driven company with a specialist focus on innovation for nature-based biodiversity, water and climate solutions. Syrinx integrate cutting edge research with pragmatism and experience to deliver meaningful and impactful services and products. Syrinx are specialists in solving difficult and complex challenges sustainably.

Melissa Cameron is a research jeweller. Melissa’s jewellery speaks of her interest in architecture, geometry, social justice, and the human body. Its making involves extensive research, meticulous preparatory drawings and precise ex*****on. Melissa’s material choices may seem uninhibited but are very deliberate so that they resonate with the embedded narrative of each project.

This weekend the 3rd and 5th years took a trip to Katanning to look at the farm designs of Ron Watkins and how his processes and principles of regenrative agriculture could influence the design of urban landscapes in studio. In 2023 the WA Chapter is thrilled to host its annual Presentation to Juries Day at Curtin University's state-of-the-art School of Design and the Built Environment (DBE) building, designed by John Wardle Architects.

Featuring some of Australia's most prominent architects, this event is a rare opportunity for the general public to learn about the architectural process (from concept to construction) of projects entered in the 2023 WA Architecture Awards.

Judging will span 10 major categories, with a 7-minute presentation, followed by a 3-minute Q&A.

Notre Dame University, has worked closely with and its home at Fremantle's Old Boys School and the Princess May Reserve.
Join us for what we hope will be a stimulating yet informal conversation about architectural work in a heritage context, as students exhibit their work in the original 1853 boys school classroom. Music, light food and drinks with will follow at the courtyard.

At the HyperSext City: Gender-justice workshop participants will discuss stories and strategies with a diverse group of people to consider how we can use design methods to create inclusive practices. ⁠

With the support of the Monash University XYX Lab, participants will think about spaces, places and experiences from a minoritised perspective, engaging and interacting with the hyper-graphics on the wall through physical making. The workshop is for all genders and persons aged 18+.⁠
