Innocent Roots of Addiction workshop on Sunday was a deep and different exploration of this theme. Definitely one worth repeating and refining over time, as it is one that is relevant for us all.
Coming up next is the workshop User Manual for your Mind.
In this workshop you will learn the simple and profound teachings from Kundalini Yoga on the 3 functional minds and the 3 aspects of universal mind, as well as the cycle of the intellect. The workshop experience is part teachings, part discussion, part experiential exercises & part meditation.
Getting a grasp on how your mind works, you can actively make it work for you rather than against you.
You can clean, train and awaken it to become a beautiful servant of your pure and original self. This is what it is intended for.
This workshop is also a great glimpse into the kind of content we cover in Level One Kundalini Yoga teacher training, so can serve as an insight into that, for anyone interested in knowing more about the training.

Why learn Vedic chanting?
Vedas are ancient scriptures composed in the Sanskrit language. They have been transmitted from generation to generation over the past several thousand years by way of a traditional call and response process still in use today. Vedic chanting is a spiritual practice and yields many powerful benefits when learnt in the correct manner:
- promotes concentration, memory and listening skills
- calms the mind and thus is an active form of meditation
- can be applied in healing, yoga therapy, and in one’s personal practice
- improves the breath in general
- promotes self-confidence
- is demanding whilst bringing lightness, joy... and some good laughs!
About the classes:
- Learn the basic rules of Vedic chanting, how to read transcription and chanting notes, and how to chant non-religious mantras with universal health benefits.
- Receive handouts and recordings to support your learning and progress
- 8 one-hour sessions Oct 12-Nov 30
- 200$ / 8 sessions payable up front
- 7-8pm
- This foundation course is a requirement for future Vedic chanting classes where you will learn longer mantras.
About the teacher:
A French citizen, Valerie lived in Singapore from 2004 to 2021, when she relocated to Perth with her Australian husband and two children.
She is a Teacher Trainer certified under the direct supervision of Mr TKV Desikachar. She is also a Yoga Therapist and Vedic Chanting teacher with several decades of experience. She learnt Vedic chanting directly from several eminent teachers during her annual stays in Chennai: Menaka Desikachar, Kausthub Desikachar, Nrithya Jagannathan, and for the past few years Radha Sundararajan. She has also been enjoying her Sanskrit studies with the ANU in the past three years.

A background in Human Services (Mental Health + Learning Disability) and personal success using Tre as a self care tool whilst being treated for neurological issues and anxiety led me to train as Tre facilitator and be able to share this amazing tool.
In my experience, self regulation and grounding in safety within your body in present moments are both paramount to living a happy, vital, calm life. Tre is an amazing and simple mechanism we can ALL use in order to increase connection and vitality in our lives and in our relationships both with ourselves and others.
