Cystic Fibrosis Geelong Fundraising Events is hoping to raise $150,000 to support research and to establish a grant to enable people with cystic fibrosis to access more affordable mental health care.

The first world war (1914-1918) saw shortages of medicines, increased costs and a shortage of men in many fields of employment including at the Geelong UFS dispensary (as we were previously known). The shortage led to a woman being appointed head dispenser for the first time.

Bottles were also in short supply during the war years and a charge of one penny a bottle was imposed unless members brought their own. This had the desired effect and many members returned more bottles than were needed.
