Collecting bush medicine in NT. The ladies made a batch on the stove in olive oil with a variety of plants we collected from the local area. I had dermatitis on my hand. I rubbed in some oil that evening and in the morning my dermatitis was gone. The ladies rub it all over their bodies and make soap from it. I did the same. So much knowledge of the land and I felt honored to be shown how to make it.
My sister has a new gym at the TAS Hockey Centre in Cornelian Bay. Great open facilities where you can train outdoors overlooking the hockey fields and trees all around. The gym is designed for 1:1 personal training sessions. If you are like me and need someone to kick your arse to get fit then check out my sis’ place Hobart Fitness Training - Personal Training, Movement & Wellbeing - pt Simon was bloody awesome! 👏🏻
Maryanne has landed! Ferntree gig tonight! Beautiful day in Hobart ♥️🎵
Keep gardening! Great to see seniors in our community getting out in the garden 🪴
🌱 This week is a special one in Tasmania, as it's both Seniors Week and National Gardening Week. It's an ideal time to get out in the garden and connect with an older member of your family, all while supporting seniors in your community.
🪴 Seniors Week is dedicated to celebrating older individuals, and the Still Gardening Program (a proud initiative of ours) plays a significant role in fostering social connections among seniors through home gardening.
💚 Data reveals that one of the primary causes of depression among older people is social isolation and loneliness. Age comes with wisdom, and older individuals have a wealth of knowledge to share.
So, take this week as an opportunity to reach out to the seniors in your community and be inspired by their life experiences. And if you're interested in getting involved, you can become a 'Garden Mate' volunteer for the Still Gardening Program.

Hi friends, Both shows at the Ferntree are sold out. Thanks so much for the support! 🪶 Hannah May and Maryanne Window, we are going to have to get our rehearse on 🔥 Absolutely can’t wait for these! Monique x
With all that’s happening in the world at the moment, here’s a good news story. This Big Red kangaroo was taken 600km north to Katherine in the NT this week for rehabilitation before being released back into the wild. I was in the desert recording music for health education with the women of Kalkarindji when little fellow appeared. Remote nurse Julie will now care for him for the next 3 months. Go well Gurindji Boy.

The original Thylacine band bass player Maryanne Window is coming from Melbourne to join Monique and pianist Hannah May on stage to play hits from Thylacine, new works + songs spanning 7 solo albums.
I’ve had the pleasure of recording LJ Parks vocals on her forthcoming EP as well as tracking beautiful piano by Hannah May and sublime guitar from Dave Steel. I’ve just finished mixing the audio as mix engineer for this release. Really excited for LJ and can’t wait for the launch shows in October! Monique 🪶
My new EP “All Caught Up” is being released to the world on October 20th! 🎉
If you can’t wait that long, don’t worry - I’ll be premiering a few tracks before then, and we’ll also have some ADVANCE COPIES available at my upcoming shows as part of my festival tour!
So far I have two exciting festivals in September and one in late October:
💚Irish and Celtic Music Festival in Yass NSW (Sep 15-17)
💙Folk by The Sea in Kiama NSW (Sep 22-24)
❤️Tablelands Folk Festival in FNQLD (Oct 27-29)
Full tour dates coming soon including two TAS launch shows with the LJ Parks Band and even more festivals later this year!
I might have a few extra pop up gigs in between festivals as I’ll be driving through parts of TAS, VIC, NSW and Canberra at some point. It you or a mate are interested in hosting me for an intimate concert,, house gig, songwriting circle or jam session, please get in touch! Otherwise this working holiday is just gonna be a holiday 😆
Looking forward to exploring parts of this country I haven’t been before ✨
Matildas!!!!!! So proud of our gals!!!!
We’ve been in my studio recording vocals, piano & electric guitar for LJ Parks new EP. Studio dog Bear has enjoyed the time immensely 🐻♥️
I too have new music on the way with Hannah May on piano & Maryanne Window on bass. Memory man + Gretsch guitar shenanigans yesterday.
🪶Thanks to Martin Tucker for tuning the piano - sounds magnifico!
RIP Sinéad O’Connor. Emperor’s New Clothes was a big song for me stylistically and I am thinking tonight of her family, friends and fans who must be heavily grieving losing her. I remember first hearing her version of Nothing Compares To You and being incredibly moved by her vocal performance on that track. A gifted artist - thanks for the inspiration SO🪶
I’m loving being in my studio recording and mixing sound. My happy place.
Martin Tucker tuned my piano yesterday and then enthralled me with his magical playing.
I’m getting ready for a recording session with pianist Hannah May for LJ Parks’ new EP!
LJ’s EP will be out soon. I’ll keep you posted 🎵

If everyone was as good as Chloe!
My letter to her manager:
To Whom It May Concern,
I just wanted to share this information on one of your staff with the NBN Assurance Team management due to my extremely positive experience with Chloe From NBN Assurance Team D993517.
Please forward this to Chloe’s manager for her professional dossier.
Chloe assisted me over the phone last night at approx. 5:30pm AEST. It was genuinely the best customer service I have received in 30+ years of professional working life.
You should congratulate her, give her a pay rise and commend her on her kind and caring attitude as well as her down to earth approach to customer service.
I actually felt happy getting off the phone after she assisted me with my nbn modem that needs replacing. Super fast service via the App with an examination of my connection that took 2 minutes then I was on the phone to Chloe.
You need people like Chloe in your organisation. Do everything you can to keep her, she is exceptional at her job!

🎶 Gig and footy tactics discussed backstage with David Bridie prior to his recent show @ The Theatre Royal in Hobart. Absolute bloody madness 🤣

"Sympathetic Martin" is from his new spoken word record. Make sure you check it out and the cool clip made with imagery filmed around Thornbury in Melbourne.

27 years since my Thylacine album was released. It’s the ABC radio feature album this month & I’m on air this Sunday April 30 to yarn about it 😱 (what I can remember anyway) 😂 with Lucie Cutting @ 10:10am.
I still have this leopard collar!
