To help recreational boaters improve their skills, we’re again running our free reversing clinics in the next few weeks and through spring.
Funded by rec boating licence and rego fees, the clinics offer boaters of all experience levels to practice their trailer reversing skills under the guidance of experts.
Three sessions are female-only events, held in conjunction with the Women in Recreational Fishing & Boating Network, with five sessions in September and October open to everyone.
Clinics will be available to all boaters at Ballarat’s Lake Wendouree on Saturday 7 September, Patterson River on Sunday 15 September, Rhyll on Sunday 22 September, Point Richards on Sunday 13 October and Altona on Sunday 27 October.
Meanwhile, Geelong’s Limeburners Point on 10 August, Ballarat’s Lake Wendouree on 25 August and Lake Eppalock on 6 October will host events aimed at women boaters, adding to recent sessions at Hastings and Rhyll run in conjunction with the WIRFAB Network.
The WIRFAB events at Ballarat and Bendigo will also include a free marine licence course, providing new female boaters with the opportunity to take their marine vessel licence test after getting guidance from experts on boating basics.
Clinics are free but bookings are essential. To learn more and to register, head to https://www.betterboating.vic.gov.au i

As always the cold miserable weather has set in and this leads to a decline in the numbers attending our monthly meetings. After all who wants to leave a nice warm home and drive in inclement weather to sit in a room for a couple of hours and then have to reverse the process to get home.

With this in mind I have had some discussions with other members of the committee and we would like to TRIAL a couple of meetings as "ZOOM" meetings so people don not have to leave the comfort of there homes. All you need is a PC and internet available. Also a we**am.

The idea is to a few days before hand post a "link" to the meeting on the page and all members then need to do at the appropriate time/date is click the link to log in.

Please note: This is a TRIAL only and no final decision will be made on doing this on a more regular basis until all members have had a say on how they feel it works.

If anyone wishes to comment on this idea please feel free to do so.

The matter will be raised at the next monthly meeting under General Business.

PRESENTATION NIGHT:

Last night, Friday , was a horrible wet & windy night not fit for man, beast or fisherman to go out. This did not, however, prevent a number of our club members gathering at the club rooms to celebrate our end of season and honour those who had won various awards for the year. Food was plentiful as always, drinks flowed and laughter sounded across the tables as awards were handed out.

All the usual suspects did well and a couple of surprise winners were amongst the club champions for the year.

As always Jenny did a great job organising and co-ordinating the function.

Thanks to all those who cooked and supplied us with food and Amber for staffing the bar. Also thanks to Kath MULHOLLAND for supply of a video taken at the 1984 presentation night where there were over 130 members and guests present..

Overall a great night had by all and we look forward to doing it all again in 12 months time.

Tight lines.....

Last night the Keysborough Angling Club Inc, in conjunction with the Australasian Golf Club held our annual Trivia Night.

We started with an empty room that soon filled to capacity (and a few extras) as members of both clubs joined in conversation and a few drinks and a chance to test brain power and "General Knowledge".

It has been reported by some people in the medical profession that alcohol has an effect on cognitive function and as the evening progressed this became increasingly obvious with some of the Great minds gathered for the rounds of Trivia..

There was a very well prepared and cooked meal by Dave and Greg as always and nobody went hungry. The bar was staffed by Amber who did a great job in ensuring nobody went thirsty.

Raffles were drawn between rounds of trivia and we thank all those who donated prizes, Middys, Berletis and others. There was a lot of gold coins thrown on the floor which were being aimed bottles of alcohol (Our version of nearest the pin) which was organised and run by Mark.

Special thanks to our Super Lady (Secretary) Jen Watson for her organisation and research of questions and answers. Amber helped greatly with our Music Trivia round which yet again was plagued with technical issues. I promise I will get it right next year.

Overall a great night was had by all.

Thanks for everyone's support to help the KAC continue to move forwards.

Merry Christmas all.

Its Christmas Party Day again. Friends gathered for lunch, very well prepared as always by our resident chefs Dave & Greg, Mark fried Flake, Jenny did as she always does and kept everything running smoothly while her daughter Amber tended the bar.

Angling club members and Golf Club members broke bread together in the spirit of the season.

Santa made an appearance with his helpful little Elf and handed out presents.

A great day and very enjoyable.

Please stay safe and have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and we look forward to meeting you all again in February.
