After just over a week's worth of competition, the 2024 Victorian State Championships have come to a close.

After all disciplines finished competing, Sandbelt was awarded 'The Vic' Shield for the best performing region at the 2024 State Championship week! Massive congratulations goes out to all of our Sandbelt players/teams who competed over the past 9 days to bring home the shield!

Special mention and congratulations goes out to our newly crowned 2024 State Champions: Kelly McKerihen (Women's Singles) & Kelly McKerihen/Ali Forsyth (Mixed Pairs), along with our Silver medalists in the Women's Pairs - Courtney Bennington/Nicole McKenzie.

We're so looking forward to this new event on the BV calendar, and it seems so are the new bowlers amongst us 🤩

Novice bowlers from across the state will gather in the Eastern Ranges playing area to compete in the new format Novice State Carnival from May 10th to May 13th, 2024.

The Mulgrave Country Club will be the Carnival’s ‘Hub Venue’, hosting all the finals. Supporting host clubs include Glen Waverley, Burden Park, Narre Warren, Berwick and Dandenong Club.
The 2024 event is open to any bowler who became affiliated with a bowling club (nation-wide) after May 1st, 2021 (inclusive). This new eligibility period is an extension on the previous 2-year window, and will enable more entrants to participate in what is expected to become a popular event on the bowls calendar.
The Carnival will now include both Men’s and Women’s Singles (21-up) and Pairs (15 ends, 3-bowl pairs) formats, rather than Singles only.

We are down to our last set of regional finals for this season, where the Sandbelt Champion of Champion singles will feature 4 players from 4 different clubs, in what should be 2 great matches!

The men's final will see Beaumaris Bowls Club's Mathew Kurta play Chadstone Bowls Club's John Leitch. 6:45pm start tonight at Cheltenham Bowls Club.

The women's final will see St Kilda Bowls Club's Martine Kohler face off against Dandenong Club's Jan Rolph on Friday 6:45pm, venue tbc.

Last night a great crowd came out to watch a very high standard Sandbelt mixed pairs final at Chadstone bowls club!!

In the end, it was Clayton’s Ali Forsyth & Kelly McKerihen who were victorious 14-9 over Moorabbin’s Tess Vawser & Jarrad O’Donohoe.

Big thanks to Chadstone Bowls Club for hosting this year’s mixed semi finals and final!

2023/2024 Sandbelt Women's Singles & Men's Triples champions have been crowed!!

Congratulations to all the players on reaching the final! Also, a big thank you to Cheltenham Bowls Club for hosting the 2 finals last Friday evening.

The men's triples saw Mentone's Dean Arthur, Brad Foote & Lachlan Jolly defeat Dandenong Club's Will Sciberras, Michael Stevenson & Gordon Thomson 21-9.

The women's singles final, went down to the wire, where Clayton's Kelly McKerihen was victorious 25-22 over Dandenong Club's Nicole McKenzie.

Our Sandbelt Region sides competed last weekend in Ballarat at the 2024 Region Sides State Championships!!

Our women's team had 3 close games on Saturday and ended up finishing 2nd in their section. Unfortunately, they didn't qualify for finals but did maintain their spot in Gold for next year's event!

Our men's team won their section on Saturday going 3-0 and earned their promotion back up to Gold for next year!! Well done guys! They then played Yarra Bowls Region in the Silver Final on Sunday, in a very close game, narrowly going down, winning the Silver medal.

Well done to all the players and managers!! You made our region proud!!

Tomorrow all 16 Region will converge on the City of Ballarat to compete in the 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗶𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀!

The new home of Region Sides will this year see Sebastopol Bowling Club, Webbcona Bowling Club, Victoria Bowling Club and Central Wendouree Bowling Club all playing host to our teams.

Sectional play will commence from 9.00am tomorrow, culminating in the finals on Sunday 14th, hosted at Sebastopol Bowling Club. All live streaming will take place from Sebastopol Bowling Club - spectators definitely welcome across all venues👀

But if you can't make a weekend roadtrip to Ballarat to support your team, you can watch the live streams, or follow along end by end with live scoring on Bowlslink or BowlsNow app - all matches will be live scored (thanks Side Managers) 😁
