You & The Paddock Crew

Last week we tidied up some of our paths, cutting away the overgrown grass edges and adding a fresh layer of gravel. It's amazing how much better they look with a little TLC 🤩

ROWAN ⭐
When Rowan gets to complete his favourite jobs around the farm, there is no stopping him!
He is pretty happy to get stuck into any task, but his favourites include;
Using the mulcher, trimming back trees and bushes, painting, keeping busy in the woodwork shed and in the warmer months, he really enjoys doing the watering. Lately, Rowan has been working super hard getting the compost up to scratch, airing it out, mixing it up, moving it from bay to bay and today got to use the compost on the veggie garden!

George had a very productive morning, starting off with some painting for his art project 🎨
He then tended to his pod and picked lots of carrots and some spring onions, ready to make savoury muffins tomorrow, yum! 😋

The woodwork group (plus a few extra helping hands) have been working so hard to complete these benches for our fire pit area in the new native garden 🙌🏻🔨🪚 A little bit of team work goes a long way!

Today we lit a fire to warm us up at break time and enjoyed each other's company, sitting on the new chairs the woodwork group have made. The front garden has also been redone and redesigned. We've pulled out all the old plants and replaced them to create a beautiful native garden 🍂🌿

The veggie garden has had a freshen up, with compost and mulch from Acorn Tree Services to create new paths.
The team did an awesome job last week, completing it all in one day! 👏🏻

Last week we started to plant our garlic in the big paddock 🧄 We've been doing little bits here and there as it's a very tedious job, but everyone has been working hard to get it in! 3 rows down and 4 to go 😆

PUMPKIN HAUL 🎃🙌🏻

We spent the morning sorting through all our garlic, picking out only the biggest and the best to be replanted into the big paddock!
We still have a lot for sale if anyone wants to duck out and grab a handful (or ten)!

Max does such a great job of recycling all our cans and bottles that we collect at The Paddock! He really enjoys putting them in the container, he's a machine! 🙌🏻
Every little contribution like this helps our planet, even though it might not seem like much 🌎

Today the cooking group made lamb and rosemary kebabs in pita bread with homemade hommus 😋 They also used lettuce from the garden and paddock pumpkin to make honey roasted pumpkin salad. So delicious!

Always keeping busy at The Paddock!
Lately the crew have been doing so many different jobs including; Mowing, watering, weeding, pulling out the rest of our summer veg, preparing the beds for new winter veg, planting winter veg and general tidying like raking and collecting all those autumn leaves that are falling 🍁

Well it’s been quite warm the past two days and the team has started the day with a good water for our thirsty plants 😀💦🌿

It's mulching time! Plus a few laughs today 🤣

How awesome are these bird houses that the guys worked on last week!! 😍
We call them "Dr Suess" bird houses because they're wonky and crazy, but we love them!

Last week, Give Where You Live Foundation had an event and asked us to make some wooden succulent boxes to decorate their tables.
The woodwork group whipped up the boxes and then Jak & Ethan worked together to plant all the succulents! They looked AMAZING 😍
We also put together a hamper with some of our preserves for a fundraiser raffle.
We are so proud of all our efforts lately, everyone has been kicking goals at The Paddock 🏈

That's a wrap! All the apples are off to be turned into cider 🙌🏻

COOKING GROUP

On the menu today - Chicken and corn soup with homemade bread rolls cooked in the pizza oven!!

Brad worked on his dough making skills, being in charge of the bread rolls. And boy, were they yummy 🤤

We used corn and carrots from the garden for our soup too 🥕 🌽

✨ TEO ✨

Teo has achieved so much in the last two weeks, completing an array of different tasks!
Last Thursday, he helped pick all the vegetables that were ready in the garden, spent some time in the woodwork shed assisting with sanding and drilling & watered the nursery and veggie pods.
Today Teo spent the day in the kitchen. He made 8 jars pickled jalapenos and also chopped up tomatoes from the garden to pop in the freezer.
Put your hands together for Teo 👏🏻 Great job!

These guys have been absolutely killing it in the kitchen the past couple of Wednesdays! Matt, Anthony, Tristan and Brandon spent a lot of time chopping up tomatoes and jalapenos for some yummy tomato relish and jalapeno jam (just a bit spicy 🥵... some people weren't keen to give it a go 😆)
We love using up all our produce to preserve, it's such a great way to make it last longer, and super tasty too!
The best part is; the participants get to take it home and enjoy what they've made!

The woodworks group's recent project is an amazing arbour over the veggie garden entrance 😍
How good is that!
Their next job is to put some climbing plants in the planter boxes!

Jez, Claire, Shannelle and Keeley picked so many tomatoes at the farm today! They then spent the afternoon getting them ready to be turned into passata tomorrow 🤤

These are the best tomatoes you will ever taste!

It's that time of year again!! Apple picking 🍎🍏

These headed off to today to be made into delicious apple cider 🙌🏻
Kobe decided to help as well (he was the taste tester 😂)

The cooking group were back in the kitchen today and made a beef pot pie with zucchini chips 🤤
All of the veg in the pie were picked fresh from the garden including carrot, onion, capsicum, tomatoes and green beans, and also the zucchini for the 'chips'.
We also prepped a bunch of plums that we picked from our fruit orchid to make plum jam on Monday!

Today we made some fresh juice using beetroot, carrot and cucumber from the garden! We also added some ginger and oranges to give it that extra zing! 💥

Our first day back at The Paddock!

The weather was absolutely horrific and it didn't stop raining for most of the day, so some of the participants did some cooking in the kitchen 🥣

Damo, Jez and Shannelle made lots of jars of pickles using cucumbers we picked from the garden. They did such an awesome job chopping up the cucumbers nice and thin, making the pickling liquid and then filling up the jars. We can't wait to taste them when they're ready to eat!

Cole also spent some time in the kitchen, making corn flake cookies and then sharing them around with his mates afterwards.

The rain won't stop us from keeping busy and smashing goals 😜
