The recent morning chill and lower daytime temperatures has us all having to acclimatise to the cold once again. Older people are less physically active, therefore it can make them more susceptible to the effects of cold weather.

Homestyle Aged Care are committed to giving back to the community and helping other businesses and communities to thrive.
We do this in a number of ways; including sponsoring community organisations that are making a positive difference to the lives of Australians, and partnering with local businesses helping to support their growth.
Our Homestyle team, as well as the residents also volunteer their time, skills and expertise to support a variety of organisations. These include things like voluntary work and visiting community events & festivals.
In December 2023 our three Geelong homes began an off-site volunteering program with the Geelong Mums; who have recently re-branded to Our Village Australia. Working with the support of the Lifestyle Co-ordinators at each of the homes, they pick up bundles of donated clothes from the Geelong Mums Warehouse. The residents then sort and fold baby and toddler clothes into gift packs categorised in specific sizes. These packs are then delivered back to the warehouse and then given to a Geelong mum in need.
The ‘Folding Sessions’ have been a great success with lots of laugher and reminiscence during these sessions, with conversations about cloth nappies, raising children and how times have changed. Our photos of the lovely ladies at Kensington Grange are testament to this! 🤗❤️🧸🪢🧶👚
The knitting group at Sea Views Manor meet and knit squares to be sewn together to make blankets to be gifted. Each mum who receives a knitted blanket also receives a toy fixed by the volunteers. One of the residents Marj, has knitted at least 20 jumpers to date, and Irene has knitted many beautiful teddies. Keep up the great work team KG! ⭐️
Residents at all different stages of their health, those in good health, those not so mobile, and residents living with dementia have all been able to participate and enjoy these sessions. Some residents have even requested to fold bags in their rooms over the weekend as they have found great purpose in this activity.
We are proud to be part of the Our Village Australia Community as we believe it is important to give back.
A few weeks ago, we took the opportunity to thank and celebrate our incredibly caring and hard working nurses in recognition of International Nurses Day.
At Kensington Grange, nurses were presented with a gift pack- specially made by the Director Of Nursing Justine Taylor- to thank nurses for their endless support and kindness to the residents. These gifts were greatly appreciated by the nurses as recognition of the wonderful jobs they do! ❤️
Homestyle Aged Care Ceo Tim Humphries has been out and about meeting and chatting with the residents in our homes.

Our Village volunteers had heard so much about the Homestyle resident's off-site volunteer program and were delighted to meet some of the Homestyle team and residents involved in the project.
Keep up the great work Homestyle Geelong Residents, your folding & sorting, knitting and crocheting is a wonderful contribution to families in need in the Geelong area. 🩷💙
Kensington Grange Kids Club has kicked off for 2024 with a wonderful start!
Students from Leopold Primary School visited Kensington Grange and were quick to make some new friends shortly after arriving!
Students were paired up with the residents and asked them a variety of questions, getting to know one other and comparing childhoods. The echo of laughter and conversations was truly heart warming.
Leopold Primary school will continue to make regular visits throughout the year as we recognise the importance of intergenerational friendships.
On the anniversary of RMS Titanic's maiden voyage 112 years ago, it was a full house at Kensington Grange cinema as residents sailed away with wine and popcorn in hand, with Titanic on the big screen!
Geelong Sound provided a Titanic sized screen with stereo surround sound for the residents to truly immerse themselves in a cinematic experience. Residents were provided with boarding passes, port holes donned the halls and staff wore tuxedos for a real Titanic experience.
A roar of cheering and clapping echoed through the building at the end of the film with some residents sharing that they had "never seen the film before and absolutely LOVED it". 🚢📽🍿🥤🍦
Another wonderful afternoon at Kensington Grange!

Dan and Jennifer from Homestyle Aged Care’s Marketing Team recently visited the Geelong Mums Warehouse to take a sneak peak at what goes on behind the scenes at the Geelong warehouse, and to see how our contribution fits in to the whole process. We met Jackie the Volunteer and Operations Manager, and she gave us a tour and explained how the clothing donations are rough bundled into packs and are then collected and delivered to Homestyle’s Geelong homes located in Belmont, Grovedale and Ocean Grove for sorting.
The resident's began participating in an off-site volunteer program for the Geelong Mums last December, and already it has been an outstanding success. Thanks to Jackie for her generous time in showing us the warehouse and being able to see the Geelong Mums volunteers hard at work and to see the difference they make to families in the Geelong area.
Keep up the great work Kensington Grange, Belmont Grange and Sea Views Manor Residents and we love those hand-made knitted teddies Irene. 💗
Homestyle CEO Tim Humphries was thrilled to join in the recent birthday celebrations of 104 Myrle Clutterbuck at Kensington Grange. Tim attended a morning tea with the residents, their families and staff, and was delighted to be able to take the opportunity to meet with three other Centenarians residents at Kensington Grange. 102 year old Bill Pratt, 100 year old Ruth Sullivan and 100 year old Alfreda Suchanek.
Tim congratulated the Centenarians on such a remarkable achievement, asking if they if they had any secrets to share on making it to 💯
Happy 104th Birthday Myrle from all of us at Homestyle, and how extraordinary and wonderful to have four residents aged over 100 living in one of our homes at once!
An Easter message from Homestyle CEO Tim Humpries wishing the residents, their families and all our team at Homestyle, a safe and Happy Easter.
The pirates and shipmates of Kensington Grange sailed on the Searoad Ferry from Queenscliff to Sorrento recently for a glorious lunch on the seas.
The residents laughed and reminisced, enjoying lunch with an up close and personal view of the Ocean. Some residents had never been on the ferry and could not have ever imagined that they would be doing so at the tender age of 97! Just goes to show that you're never too old to be a pirate!
Check out our fabulous Titanic photos. They definitely made our heart go on! 😍🛳⛅
On Valentine's Day, the residents of Kensington Grange were love bombed with a beautiful high tea, with all the bells and whistles to celebrate the day of love! 😍❤️😘💓💝💞💔❣️💘💖

Over the past decade, Tim has led the Homestyle team through challenging times, however he has continued to inspire us with his unwavering resilience, strategic insight, and exceptional leadership, ensuring the well-being of both the residents we care for and the Homestyle team.
Tim's commitment to continuous improvement has supported Homestyle to adapt, evolve and consistently strive for excellence.
A morning tea was held to celebrate Tim’s Anniversary with a 10-year service badge and certificate warmly presented by Brian Hewitt, one of the founders and former CEO of Homestyle Aged Care.
From all of us at Homestyle thanks for all that you do Tim and here’s to many more years of shared success and making a difference in the lives of the residents we care for.
Homestyle are thrilled to share that we have begun an off-site volunteering program involving two of our Geelong homes, Sea Views Manor and Kensington Grange in December, 2023. Working with the dedication and support of Lifestyle Co-ordinators Jessica Curley and Alana O’Keefe facilitating the pick up and drop offs of goods from the Geelong Mums Warehouse, and then organising the volunteer activities in their respective homes.
Alana and Jessica initially visited the Geelong Mums Warehouse and took lots of photos to show the residents the backend operations and sorting that goes on in the Warehouse firsthand. They decided that as a first initiative of this off-site volunteering program, the residents would sort and fold baby clothes, and arrange them into gift packs, which are then delivered back to the warehouse and then given to a Geelong mum in need. The residents pop a sticker ‘This pack was put together by # # ’ on each completed pack with their name.
Established in 2013, Geelong Mums supports over 8,000 babies and children each year. As a branch of the St.Kilda Mums, its purpose is to rehome essentials such as prams, cots, toys and clothes to give kids the best start in life.
From one idea, exponentially things grow.
The ‘Folding Sessions’ at Kensington Grange have been a great success to date. Each week the attendance grows of residents wanting to join in. There has been a lot of laughter and reminiscence during these activities with conversations about cloth nappies, raising children and how times have changed.
The knitting group at Sea Views Manor are now knitting squares to be sewn together to make blankets to be gifted, and each mum who receives a knitted blanket will also receive a toy fixed by the volunteers.
Residents at all different stages of their health, those in good health, those not so mobile, and residents living with dementia have all been able to participate and enjoy these sessions. Some residents have even requested to fold bags in their rooms over the weekend as they have found great purpose in this activity.
We are proud to be welcomed as part of the Geelong Mums Community as we believe it is important to give back.
Thank you to the residents for your work and commitment to this program, and to the Lifestyle Co-ordinators Alana and Jessica for embracing this opportunity with great enthusiasm. We look forward to connecting further with the Geelong Mums in 2024.
