Review
It’s that time of year again!
A lot changes over 12 months in the life of your young family. Does your evacuation kit meet the current needs of your child and family?
Head to aba.asn.au/emergency to find an evacuation kit list for your child's age and how they are fed.
Breastfeeding emergency preparedness
🤱 Have you ever thought about breastfeeding as part of your emergency prep?
It may not be the first thing you think of. But during an emergency like fire, flood or cyclone, breastfeeding provides your baby with safe food, water and comfort. This is even more important if you lose power, or your water supply is contaminated.
For more information on emergency prep head to aba.asn.au/emergency
Packing
Emergency planning for your family? Don’t forget to pack an evacuation kit for your baby. Include the items you'd need to safely feed and care for your baby without mains water or power for at least 3 days.
Go to aba.asn.au/emergency for evacuation kit lists.
Planning
No-one likes to spend time preparing for the worst. But with Australia facing more and more emergencies, it’s a worthwhile use of your time. A little bit of effort helps reduce the stress and trauma your family could face.
These simple steps will help protect your family if you ever have to evacuate:
1. Plan to evacuate to a family member or friend's home, rather than an evacuation centre.
2. Pack an evacuation kit.
3. Leave early.
For more information on preparing your family head to aba.asn.au/emergency
Consider
🏡 Have you ever thought about what you would do if you had to evacuate your home with little to no notice?
Disasters like fire, flood or cyclone can happen at any time. To reduce stress on yourself and your family, check out aba.asn.au/emergency
You’ll find tips on emergency planning for your family and evacuation kit lists for babies, toddlers and young children, no matter how they are fed.
It’s always good to be prepared for emergencies.
We are sorry we weren’t prepared in time to give you this information during Emergency Preparation Week which was last week, 16-23 September. But we think the resources are so important and so helpful that we are going to post them on our page this week instead. We hope the information gives you some ideas for managing emergency situations with your families.

Updated group calendar for July-December
Dear ABA family,
Are you pregnant, or have you had a baby in the last 12 months?
Have you completed the ABA survey about your journey into parenthood?
https://www.breastfeeding.asn.au/civicrm/mailing/url?u=58296&qid=7219664
We’d like to know what information, support and resources made a difference to you so we can plan to be there for mums, parents and families for another 60 years.
This is the final week for our, 'Your journey: Becoming a parent' survey. The survey is designed to provide you with an opportunity to tell us about your experiences during pregnancy and the first year with your baby. You can tell us as much or as little about your journey as you want and it's completely anonymous, unless you want us to contact you.
As a thank you for taking the time to support ABA and parents, when you complete the survey, you can choose an ABA e-booklet of your choice as our gift to you.
It’s the last week, so please take the survey today! It will only take a few minutes and will help parents of the future. 😊
Let your friends know too! We want to hear from 1,000 women, so we can be sure ABA will meet the needs of all Australian mums and parents in the future.
Thank you in advance for your support. We can't wait to hear from you!
Need support with breastfeeding? We can help 🙂
