It's a bird... It's a plane... No, it's the Mystery Mako. This Mako definitely seems like he could be from another planet though... Any guesses who it is?

This week's Mystery Mako is more Mork from Ork than Superman...

You're likely to have seen him staring into puddles or heard him waxing rhapsodic on some minor achievement, perhaps gavotting around Makos events with a scarf and strategically dipped hat. You'd think with all that time spent prinking in the mirror, he'd be self aware enough to not be caught looking so silly on field....

Yes, it's 'Captain Roget' Jae Rochester. Showing us yet again that 'Sydney' is synonymous with another 6 letter word beginning with W. 4/5 stars for effort Captain. Be careful you don't fall into one of those puddles.

Well done to Levi Ryan who was quick to name him.

Training at the club is on Wednesdays & Fridays, warm up from 5.30pm for a 6pm start. πŸ‰πŸ‰πŸ¦ˆπŸ¦ˆ

Sunday had the Mandurah Makos taking a trip up the highway to Booragoon to take on Vic Park/Rossmoyne.

Clashing commitments meant several players had to double up across two games, including our entire media department. One humble Makos clubman even donning all three guernseys across the day, such is his unwavering commitment... Tripling his access to post game beer tickets. Well earned!!

Due to the media team being otherwise waylaid by actually taking the field instead of just capturing the heroics on film, there only exists evidence of the Seniors doing their thing. Fortunately though... they looked slick and well drilled and here's a snippet of the action for your viewing pleasure.

Another awesome weekend of masters footy played in the best of spirits. Thank you to all those who made it along to watch, play & volunteer and of course our gameday sponsors. Total Tools Mandurah The Berrigan Bar & Bistro

Saturday morning was time for a little club maintenance & repair. Made possible by the team at Alcoa, who were able to provide some funding through their community involvement (ACTION) program. We are incredibly thankful for their ongoing support and club sponsorship.

Thank you to all volunteers and Alcoa representatives who were able to attend and give the place a spruce up. As always, it's the collective efforts of many that keep Mandurah Makos functional and thriving.

It's Mystery Mako time again...

Which striking figure can be seen enjoying a responsible cold drink and a bit of social time at our recent home carnival?

It would seem once again, nothing gets by the well trained eyes of the Makos crew... This week's Mystery Mako is life member and man about town Mark Burton "Spider", as so many of you were quick to identify. Strutting the shorts, shades and sleeves style combination atop the Rushton Park hill a couple of weekends ago. Top shelf Spider!

It's always a difficult endeavour, trying to get a team photo. These are definitely not of the full team rosters but at least a work in progress for now. Masters and Seniors teams

A few words of love and appreciation for all the Makos Mothers, including all the amazing mothers whom we have lost. Thank you ladies for all you have done and continue to do for us. An extended thank you to all our wives, partners, aunts, sisters and friends... all women whose unwavering love and support we are the beneficiaries of each and every day.

Happy Mother's Day

Thank you xx

A couple of winners from Friday night at Club Makos...

Congratulations to the always charming and helpful, champion bloke Lee Hitchens (JK), winner of the special Mothers Day raffle. Pictured here surrounded by some of the lovely Mrs Makos. No doubt JK will be sure to see his winnings distributed lovingly on Sunday. Thank you to Kerry's Lunch Bar for their ongoing support which helped provide this special prize.

Secondly, a big congratulations to Sean Madigan & Barbara Doherty Madigan, visiting from Na Fianna Catalpa GAA, winners of this week's Friday night meat tray raffle. Proudly supported this week by Novus Peel. Thanks for making the trip down to support your boys and getting involved in Mandurah Makos social activities.

It seemed that last week's Mystery Mako was perhaps a little too easy for the keen eyes of our followers. This week's entry should prove more bemusing... Who is The Mystery Mako and what exactly is he doing here?

Thank you once again to everybody who took part in the Mystery Mako challenge this week, including a possible red herring guess from the Mystery Mako himself.

It seems to have definitely proven a little more mysterious this week but still not completely beyond solving, with Brett Pattison being the first to correctly name much loved Mako Ron Barton #33, deftly collecting the ball on the half volley. Top effort Ronnie!

International/compromised rules game tonight against Na Fianna Catalpa GAA at Rushton Park. Let's hope the rain can hold off this time!! 6pm ball up. Drinks, BBQ and regular Friday night social activities. See you there!

08/05/2024

The fellas from Na Fianna Catalpa GAA will return to Rushton Park this Friday evening, the second attempt at an international/compromised rules exhibition match after the first one was rained out just minutes in a few weeks ago. Come on down to watch the match and the regular Friday evening social activities at the club. 6pm ball up, BBQ and drinks available.

Of course, Sunday at Rushton Park was not just for the sartorially astute to bask in the sunshine and camera flashes. We were all there to bear witness to our evergreen gladiators, demonstrating their might and prowess across the grass filled stages.

Here's some stills of the boys putting on a stellar performance for the crowd.

Some of the glamorous sights from the Rushton Park social scene yesterday, a who's who of the Peel region. Mandurah once again showing itself to be at the forefront of haute couture, with several men seen wearing sleeves across both the concrete and lawn catwalks. An insight into the fashion style of the cooler season ahead.

A gracious thank you to the hundreds of attendees of our home carnival, for what was a fantastic day of masters footy in the sunshine. Yet again made possible by the many volunteers and sponsors whose contributions are the backbone of these events.

We sincerely hope you enjoyed your day with Mandurah Makos and look forward to seeing all you trendsetters again soon.

Much love...

A quick post to wrap up an incredible home carnival with the announcement of todays drinks raffle winner, Craig McStay. Affectionately known around Makos headquarters as Wombat.

A HUGE shout out to a few of our ongoing game day sponsors...
Spotter Finance, Total Tools Mandurah & IGA Silversands. Thank you for the support that helps keep our teams on the field.

Many more photos to come throughout the days ahead. Thank you to everyone who attended to support, play and/or volunteer.

The drinks are on Wombat!!!

Chaotic scenes unfolded last night after the final siren, when MC Flushing Dunny tried to beatbox the Collingwood theme song. Major Thommo #32 commandeered the mic before breaking into one of his famous impromptu battle raps to restore peace in the club.

Get yourself down to Rushton Park tomorrow, Sunday May 5th for a fantastic day of AFL Masters footy. Games start from 10am and run all day. Activities for the kids and food & drink available.

Can you tell who the Mystery Mako is this week?

Thank you to everybody who took interest in this weeks Mystery Mako. It was of course well known club man Steve Thomson as many of you correctly identified, making his triumphant return from the long term injury list a few weeks ago and cutting a very recognisable shadow.

Training from 5:30pm tonight in preparation for our huge home carnival this Sunday May 5th. See you there!

28/04/2024

Mandurah Makos are excited to present our home carnival, next Sunday 5th of May.

Congratulations to Matty Ferris, this week's lucky winner of the "Mighty Makos" meat pack. A highly sought after prize.

A special mention this week, as today was the funeral of long time Makos supporter, general top bloke and proprietor of both club sponsors Envirotune & Mandurah Towing Service, Keith Bartlett.

A fitting service held today in Mandurah attended by hundreds, with many tributes and stories attesting to the impact Keith had on countless people.

We bid you farewell Keith, though you will continue to live on as we forever speak your name.
