Looking back at some of my favourite projects of 2023 and feeling grateful for this year’s opportunities.

More generally, I’ve had the best three years growing as a signwriter in Cornwall and would like to thank everyone who has hired me, recommended me, worked with me and spent time with me this year.

It’s been a time of exploration, learning new skills and pushing my limits. I’ve especially enjoyed spending more time on glasswork, practicing glue chipping and spending more time gilding. I’m especially happy to have spent more time working and learning with other signwriters this year.

Next year brings a whole new adventure in Melbourne - and hopefully some more chances to learn and grow.

I’ll be a little quiet while I figure things out but I’ll keep posting about my progress when the time comes. Happy new year x

A lovely gilding commission from this week for some wonderful new owners of a beautiful Victorian house. I’m very thankful to end the year on such a fun project. Thanks to for helping on this one!

I had a fun time helping my main gal sling some sleek lines for Chintz’s new room in Falmouth yesterday - a super cosy setting for some baroque-inspired autumnal work.

I have a limited amount of enamel cups available before I head to France for a little while.

This is the first time I’ve had the chance to paint cups this year and when they’re gone, they’re gone.

Each one is painted slightly differently and will be available on my website until 10pm Sunday 17th September. (Link in bio)

Very grateful to for brining me onboard. Lots of my pals created things for this and I was a very happy to contribute.

I’m taking a break from commissions for a few weeks but my books will be reopening in September for 6 weeks more before some exciting things I have planned.

This year I was fortunate enough to be awarded the Specialist Mentor Grant from which means being able to spend 1:1 time with one of the most inspiring people I know - .goodwin.signwriter !

Truly a woman I look up to in many ways - Amy has guided me through a super exciting project that will eventually change how my business works while focusing in on the super fine details of techniques in drawing and panting letters.

This focus on my practice has encouraged me to dedicate a bit of time time each month to invest in myself, improve my craft and figure out where I want to go as a business - quite the luxury in a busy life!

I’ve spent the last two weekends hanging out with this gem, working for some lovely clients.

It’s been a couple of months painting things that I can’t share yet - and this is one of them - but all will be revealed soon! Hope you’re all feelin’ good! 🌞

This past month as flown by but I’m still here! Here’s a house sign I made out of marine ply, designed and painted for my parents when they moved house a little while ago.

I took full advantage of the sun yesterday painting both sides Rudhek’s bow (pronounced Ruthek and means ‘robin’ in Cornish!)

I love a bit of Clarendon and the drop shadow in the second picture made it pop against the brilliant red canvas.

Huge thanks to Jamie and Kate for being so welcoming and for snapping this work in progress shot.

Feeling super inspired after an extra special weekend spent at Dingles Letterheads with so many talented Signwriters from all over the world.

So many demos, talks and the opportunity to paint in the perfect location: surrounded by fairground art and lettering.

A group of Cornish Signwriters have contributed to a charity fundraiser for Falmouth and Penryn Welcome Refugee Families.

A brilliant client of mine just sent me photos of the miniature steam lorry he built! I was lucky enough to paint the lettering on the front panels last year and this is the first time I’ve seen the whole thing. So stoked!

I was happy to spent some time outside in the sun lettering this miniature steam lorry before the week of frost we’ve had here in Cornwall. ❄️🌞

Big thanks to everyone who came to my stall at Newlyn Gallery market yesterday. I loved meeting you all and talking about signs all day.

It was a magical day and the best first market I could have asked for. It’s been a challenging month but all the hard work is paying off.

I was touched by all the feedback. Going to rest today and feel grateful ✨

Also, where are your favourite markets? I’d like to bring some enamelware to Cornish markets this winter and would love any tips on where to apply. ✨

Spent some time in the studio painting some canal roses this week and experimenting with colours for some one-off enamel pieces.

I’ve enjoyed this style since learning the basics with Dave Panit a couple of years ago. Here’s my take on the traditional art.

A work in progress. No computers… just a pencil, some chalk and a ruler 😉

Just got some pictures back from that time I spent a day dodging the April showers in Falmouth to paint Mischief, a pilot cutter with an interesting story.
