The thing about printing with gelli plates is that there are so many options! We started with hand painted flower studies and then drew with posca pens on the plates.

Painting oils alla prima is very satisfying. A little before and after of a study of lilac roses painted last week.

My Misfits have been experimenting with gelli plate printing. Learning about mono printing, negative and positive imprints, leaf prints, posca pen prints. So much learning!

More fundamental drawing practice this week, including ink and wash skills. It's actually very hard to blend ink and show the variety of tones in the wash.
The Thursday evening kids art class is full of skilled young artists.

Term 4 is go! We are off to a roaring start with lots of fundamental drawing skills and some inspo from Giorgio Morandi.

We have been working on hand cut stencils for spraypainting in the last few weeks of the term. Can't wait to see how they turn out!

We are all about patterns this term. Started with designing a pattern to tessellate. Now we are adding colour to our pattern repeat... But this is just the beginning!

It's always good to be learning more skills. Today I did an intro to sign painting workshop with Gaston at . Was so much fun. I have to practice alot to get as good as the pros but that's part of the fun.

Term 3 was so busy I 'bearly' had time to take any photos of the wonderful soft sculptures that were designed and crafted from upcycled fabric by the Misfit Makers. Here are a couple of photos so you can see just how amazing the work is in our classes. All soft toys were designed by the kids, they learnt how to draught their own patterns and sew their work using some very challenging materials. Well done team!
Now we are back in the studio learning how to create tessellating patterns.
