No words. These two went through hell and back - all we did was be there at their time of need. Love my job.
I am so thrilled to be included in the ’s for the third consecutive year; rubbing shoulders with some of the most inspirational people in the industry. Although there will be time to reflect on how all of this comes back to the clients, and how achieving real outcomes for them is the most important thing I do, it's also important to make time for champagne. Now seems like a pretty good time for champagne!
An absolute pleasure sharing the stage with these two incredible financial planners John Cachia and James Wrigley.
The beautiful Cassandra Baldini was the perfect mediator for us and our tangents!
Thank you Financial Standard for an informative event talking all things retirement income at today's event in Melbourne.
Such a great vibe at today's event! Great questions and enthusiasm in this morning's session.
THANK YOU and for having me speak finance this morning ♥️
Sometimes we must feel the fear and have the courage to do something we’re scared of.
Putting this post together has been difficult to do – the self-promotion and asking for your support. It’s not something that comes naturally to me, or I suspect many others. However, today, an unassuming comment from a colleague reminded me I need to do my own self-promotion, and that it’s an important part of standing behind what you believe in.
I genuinely love what I do. Every time I see this picture, it reminds me of a 20-year-old lady who I had the privilege of helping. She had received a TAC payout due to injuries she suffered in a car accident. Those injuries also meant she is unable to work again. To this day I still think about her story and the way life was unfortunately disrupted.
I am also able to think about how what was every day work to us as advisers made a fundamental difference to her in one of the most difficult times of her life, and that every day I want to make sure other people in her situation receive the right advice to make the same difference.
As advisers, the lives we change and the positive impact our profession has on people needs to be celebrated. This is why I do what I do, so please vote so we can keep on working to change the world 😊

Absolute pleasure talking with about the second hat I wear as Chair of the Pro Bono financial advice network : my second passion outside advising my clients. Thank you for having me!
Hi All!
I know I haven't been very active on this site (in fact, around a year has gone by).... But this is an important message;
My social media accounts are getting hacked, so please please be very careful with any messages you get from me. If in doubt, just call me.
Love to you all, Nicola
“An advocate for both the profession and its community”
Thank you for including me on the 2021 🥰 I am so proud of this quote from the write up and completely sums up what I set out to do when I entered the industry.
Just under 10 years ago, and with the support of Mark () I decided to change the path of our lives and the others that I would meet along the way.
Today, to all of you out there who have supported my journey along the way (clients, mentors, other professionals, friends and family) I say thank you for believing in me and helping me follow my dream that I set out on just under a decade ago.
I am proud of what I have done in this short space of time, working towards continuing to change the financial planning profession.
Do what you love and you never have to feel like your working ever again. That is the feeling I get every time I focus my mind and time on the Pro Bono Advice Network (PFAN)
Today I get to share with you all that I’ve taken on the role of Chair of this life changing work we do for those with Multiple Sclerosis through .
Coupled with a big thank you to the team at and TAL who support us behind the scenes with connecting clients with willing advisers and my beautiful Deputy Chair who is just as passionate as I am about the work we do.
Looking forward to seeing what we can achieve in the future 🧡
This weekend for me has been about investing in a little self care and reading a book that’s been sitting on my bookshelf for a few months.
The book is Dare to Lead. Yes, not very relaxing…
This quote resonated with me and the way I see financial planning evolving over the years to come. Yes, Brains are needed. But connection comes from understanding the both the communicated and un-communicated emotions of our clients.
Love this work. Excited about the future.
The Tokyo 2020 Olympics are upon us, with pure admiration for all athletes present, past and future.
Just like planning your financial future, these Olympians had a single goal that they planned and worked for.
All plans, whether in a year, later time or 20 years from now, knowing where you want to go is the starting point.
Spending this time helps make sure you are consistently working towards own unique podium, no matter what that may be.
Ever wondered what financial planning was all about?
If you thought it was just about choosing any old investment, you’re not alone…. Something I became acutely aware of during a client meeting this morning.
Over the coming weeks I will share some of the key areas financial planners consider when discussing your situation with you - no matter the $ value of your wealth.
I hope you enjoy 😊
Thanks to .jack for the original post with this information that I draw my inspiration from.

Sometimes as a financial adviser we forget that even the smallest changes to someone’s financial situation can have a profound effect.
So, why not assist those that need it most when their lives are turned upside down?
It was a pleasure putting an article together for the Association of Financial Advisers to talk about how we advisers can give back to the wider community and the work we do as part of the Pro Bono Financial Advice Network (PFAN).
Link to the article is in my Bio.
The people I meet, especially my clients, their families and stories, is what I love most about what I do.
When we, as financial planners, ask what can be some of the most intimate questions about someone's lives, why not share our journey?
Thank you Tahn Sharpe from the Professional Planner for letting me share my story (and my Dad’s). It's a privilege to be able to contribute to the industry and promote the good that advisers do and the value that advice has to those that we serve.
A special thank you to the many mentors I've had along the way who have supported me in my various pursuits. I won’t be here without you.

Happy International Women’s Day to all of those amazing people out there. Not only to the women challenging the status quo but to all the great men who support us behind the scenes.
This photo is of only a few of the strong women in my world, who have supported me along my journey.
Taken at my Nana’s 90th birthday a few years ago, my Nana taught us to be determined and strong-willed. She still lives at home by herself!
My mum, who is not only a mother to three children, ran a dairy farm, studied Medical Laboratory Science, and worked/managed the Blood Bank at Waikato Hospital. She taught me to pursue my dreams, to not settle or accept something I did not believe in or fit my values and ethics, and to challenge the status quo.
Finally, my sister who I admire for her strength and determination ❤️

International Women’s Day 2021 is upon us tomorrow.
This quote I heard during a powerful speech during an event I was lucky to attend last week.
It makes us remember that we’re in this together, working towards a stronger future; we’re not competing against each other.
My vision for the financial planning profession is to “create a profession that focuses on making a difference to clients, so our clients can live a life that they desire and deserve”.
I recently had the privilege of penning an article for the Association of Financial Advisers talking about the work my Pro-Bono Advice Network colleagues and I do.
As part of this article, I was asked for a statement about the future of financial planning, and I arrived at this quote.
My question for all advisers out there what is your vision for our ‘profession’ and for all you non-advisers, what do you want from us?
Check out the article in the link via my bio (or via the snapshots!).
Why do you do what you do?
For me, the reason I chose to change careers from lawyer to financial planner was reconfirmed earlier this week after talking to a strong young woman (in her early 20s) who had received a TAC payment after a car accident.
The accident left her with so many invisible symptoms, meaning she is unlikely to work full time for the rest of her life. Therefore this money truly does need to work for her.
Helping people to make decisions about their financial future, especially when emotions are high, is my why. I love what I do. Looking back, changing careers was one of the best decisions I have made.
So, what is your why?
From my beautiful work colleague, who didn’t leave my side all year, and I, have a very Merry Christmas.
If 2020 has taught us one thing, it’s that life is never constant, but it’s what you make of changes that define you.
Enjoy your loved ones - regardless of where they are in the world x
We are on the air!
The chat Gen Frost from and I had around Self-Managed Superannuation Funds (and other topics such as the work I do with the MS Limited community) is now out!
Links to the Podcast are in the comments below or through my website www.nicolabeswick.com or Gen’s website www.therealitycheque.com.au
Set your watches for this Wednesday if you want to know more about Self-Managed Superannuation Funds.
The beautiful Gen Frost from the invited me to speak on her podcast, The Reality Cheque, about this very topic.
are just one of the many structures available to house your wealth within the financial planning world. Gen and I talk about these vehicles in more detail.
I hope you check-in this Wednesday to listen to our chat, and the many other podcasts available on Gen’s website www.therealitycheque.com.au.
The Reality Cheque is a show close to my heart, designed to decode financial lingo, help the audience improve their overall financial literacy and provide simple steps to get on the right path to financial security.
Trust.
The most important factor of any relationship.
When clients feel comfortable enough to say exactly what is going on in their lives, I know they have complete faith in me.
With everyone I meet, my goal is to listen, to understand. With the same level of respect, free of any judgment or ulterior motive, all with the focus of helping someone work towards what is important to them - we are all unique.
Because, regardless of who someone is or where they have come from, we all should be able to live a life we desire and deserve.
A few weeks ago, I was fortunate enough to be invited as a speaker at one of the Women in Financial Planning series alongside the talented Angela Martyn and Olivia Maragna and of course the fabulous who hosted all three sessions.
Suzanne navigated the all-important aspects we face - Mindset, Influence, and then Communication, in our careers. Three very brilliant sessions and conversations.
To my delight, somebody contacted me afterwards from a listener who wanted some advice around her situation. I was able to share the lessons I had learned to date to assist her withheld journey. I took stock of my words of wisdom to her. It sunk in as to what I do is not just about being there for clients but helping others forge their careers within this industry. 💖
I found this quote a few months ago, on my journey back to Melbourne, having visited Sydney to meet a mentor of mine. Over the past 13 years, both himself and his wife have hosted events to raise money that went towards funding education plans for those in Timor Leste.
This journey reignited my belief that many of us are here to serve others. This is the reason I do what I do.... I started my journey in the financial planning world because you can make a difference to so many people.
I'm grateful to meet, connect, and share my journey with many of you who are all wanting to make this world a better place ❤️
One of the great joys of my role is presenting webnairs to the MS Limited Community. In the last session, I had the pleasure of talking about how a financial planner can assist younger individuals navigate their position after a diagnosis of MS - link to the webniar is in my bio. Thank you and the beautiful Nicola G for hosting me once again.
